I need a web site

Where would you guys recommend that I look for an affordable web site service that is easy to set up and edit ?

It will be an art site, so i need to be able to add lots of images and be able to remove an image and update it easily, since i sometimes update my art after i post it.

Currently, i have a Blogspot page, and a large part of it is Flash.

I'm finding that it doesn't show up on cell phones - even Android phones, which i though were ok with Flash.

I have a lot of varied styles, and a lot of it is what sells - bright colored simple pet portraits, so i'd rather not link to it here

It's not what i like on my wall, but it is what people will buy....if I can ever just get it out there to the masses !

I did this painting, and it's more my personal style, versus the florescent pink poodle art :

Don't miss an opportunity to promote yourself. To earn from something you like to do a great thing.

Had a friend who did a calendar all Mustangs drawings if IRRC. Sold it from the back of a Auto magazine. Best of luck in your endeavor.

I used wix.com

It's as easy as using Word. And pics are easy to upload.
They have a lot of templates.
It's free to setup and use.
Then there is cafeteria pricing when you go active.
Pretty affordable.

With that said, the real issue is driving traffic to your site or SEO.
When an expert looks at your site they my tell you that it has to be redesign with the proper 'call to action' words.
So don't spend too much time dyi unless you are sure your verbage will drive traffic!

Do people use websites any more? I say get a facebook, instragram, twitter and just use it to promote your art, nothing else. Get maybe an ebay or amazon account to sell your art and use the other avenues to promote it.

Wow, nice work. Im an led art guy. New Christmas Cabin Wall Painting with LED from Manual Woodworkers | eBay Thomas Kinkade Sunday Night Sleigh Ride Bannerette Wall Decoration | eBay

Affordable is what you should look for; avoid anything that is 'free', e.g., Facespook. My son has had a vanity domain for years, the advantage is you can have a domain like [Cd].com

Take a look at Markdown. And image will be important for an art site, so look at Smashing Magazine.

Facebook and the like are great for putting the word out, but don't let them be your store. Let them link to and work with your store, let them communicate with users of those sites, but your store can't simply be an account that you have at Mark Zuckerberg's store. Because then it's not your store, it's his.

FWIW, and this is not an endorsement, I just bought something last week from a store whose site was run by an outfit called Bigcommerce. There's a big difference between having a company host your store and hoping Facebook doesn't newsfeed tweak your store into nonexistance.

I go with GoDaddy ($9.99 for .com) for domain registration then HostGator for hosting. Then when I get that set up I use CPanel, then convert it to WordPress (really simple process). I use WordPress for content management, and it works really well and is easy to use. It works on mobile and allows images.

As an alternative to HostGator, you can just use GoDaddy's hosting and click on the WordPress option. It's like $1/month, but still, WordPress is awesome.

I have a clueless question here : What if i buy a domain name and hosting from a company that goes out of business 3-4 years from now.
What happens then ?
Does www.(mysitename).com just vanish, or can i just re-host it using another service ?

Once I buy the www.mysitename.com address, is it mine forever, or is it just like I'm renting that name ?

Thanks

If the company goes under you'd have to find a new host. The domain would stay yours. You pay for domains by the year, if you let it lapse you loose it.
