Eight hundred dollars for all of that?! Each time that I have paid for a timing belt replacement they charged $1,000 for just the timing belt!
I just found out that an old roommate replaced his S10. Allegedly all it needed was to top off the AC, but that is never true.
The other day I chatted with an old friend. He was the first one to tell me the imaginary Japanese law that all cars must have their engines replaced after 60,000 miles.
You know, before they are broken in.

I had a prelude that died a sad death and then a rav4 that was destroyed by a dishonest mechanic. Now I have a Equinox.

I asked about the Rav4:

The engine had like 40k when I got it, but it only got like another 15k before a mechanic "fixed" the and basically made it undriveable.

There is nothing like talking to non-car people to find yourself with more questions than when you started!

Recently I had a talk with an old man from a city near the border between Brazil and Uruguay who told me it costed the price of a calf on fuel to go from Porto Alegre (my hometown) to Bagé (his hometown).

IIRC some pick-up derivatives of the Kia Pride were made in Iran by SAIPA, but with a more conventional 4-wheel layout.

Tandems?!
How does that affect cargo space?

If you simply add tandems while not stretching the cargo area, it may decrease the cargo space. Unless you're willing to haul something heavier yet not so large.

Actually that looks like a stretch adding the rear axle. I thought the bed was 6ft, looks like 8 now.

WOW! I know I've said it before, but I went through a succession of half a dozen g1 Rabbits/Golfs. I coveted a pickup but never had one. Now they're going for silly prices.
