Slowmover mentioned centramatic balancers... They can be found here.. Tire Balancers, Tire Balancing, Wheel Balancer and Wheel Balancing from Centramatic learning about these, I might consider them for all my vehicles in the future. We keep vehicles a long time, and it sounds like it would be a good investment and reduce needed maintenance while improving the ride.

So, Jakobnev posted the nosecone youtube video, and slowmover mentioned a nosecone. Their website can be found here: https://www.nosecone.com/

Personally, if I'm adding things to the box, or on top of the cab to help deflect wind or improve aerodynamics, I'd also like to look for solutions that either add storage space options, or add to features... (such as allowing space for additional equipment, a/c, etc.

Any suggestions or leads are appreciated.

Another interesting thing: vortex generators / v-spoilers and under-trailer airflow deflectors, in addition to side guard panels can be seen here: https://airflowdeflector.com/ I found this site while trying to research side skirts.

They work as advertised and the wheel covers are easy to take on and off.

In your case you would want the trailer aeroslider system.

You can't use chains with the panel between the axles installed. That has been the biggest complaint I've heard from companies running them.

Be warned, they aren't cheap so you would need to be doing some serious highway miles to break even on the purchase cost.

Actually, in my case, I wouldn't.. my truck only has two axles, so I don't think that benefits my aerodynamics. I'm just posting it here for curiosity and for other people who might have trucks they want to modify, or in case they have other products either now or in the future.

I do like their wheel covers however.

These are aero add-ons for a VW Type II. The intention is that the half-circular airdam and sidewalls can slide upward [only] but are restrained by bungee shock cords. The sidewalls run from inner tire face in front to outer tire face in back.

Because the roof and the sides of the vehicle just screams a potential for a large solar install, here are a few threads on such things on here.

DIY Car Solar Roof

It looks like there are a LOT more threads on the subject.. so if anybody finds any good ones, feel free to post...

Personally I'm thinking thin film might be better than panels.. but I'm sure there are a lot of pros and cons either way.

That's quite the silly bus ...ahem, syllabus. I didn't read all of them but I looked at the number of posts:

Cube Van? — 8
Looking for a MPG gauge for old truck — 9
5 MPG to 20 MPG what will it take? — 29
Aero add-ons for box truck — 5
Top Ten Moving Truck Tips! — 14
RV / Square box leading edge interesting stuff... — 11

Solar charging two 12 volt batteries (parallel)... — 6
Wind or solar powered DRLs? — 13
They've got solar panels on the roof... — 7
Replacing alternator with solar panel array on roof? — 92
Solar Panels for Auto Applications — 20
Solar charging to 12 V battery? — 17
DIY Car Solar Roof — n/a

Wouldn't it be great to take that list and extract the helpful, no-duplicate parts with some software tool? Maybe an online neural net? MacOS Summarize Text doesn't cut it.

Wow, I just got off the phone with a guy from Centramatic... they're a lot more complicated than I thought.

To anybody thinking about them:

They're basically for 3/4 ton trucks and above. Unfortunately, due to a complicated set of issues, they won't work on most passenger vehicles (but there may be some exceptions... it's just... complex.. with the spacing with the wheels and brakes, etc.)

They're definitely work with my truck and similar trucks. You just have to make sure you get the right model number, which is dependent on a lot of different details.
