This amazing and yet classic car is based on a 1948 Cadillac Series 62 Sedanette and was buit or built for rocker Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top. The name actually consists of 3 words: Cadillac, ZZ Top and Godzilla. Even the license plate says "I8TOKYO" ["I ate Tokyo" - a reference to famous Godzilla movie].

One of my favorite aerodynamic cars is the Volkhart-Sagitta V-2 and one of my favorite features is the way the front fenders fall away from the A-pillar [such as it is].

Now look at the windsplits on the Ferrari F8 Tributo:



It looks like they divide the airflow so that the rear view mirrors are in a wind shadow.

Another comparison with the Volkhart-Sagitta. I was watching a video on industrial design, and he mentioned that the Convair Model 118 would do 90mph on the road, with a 26 HP Crosley engine.

Apparently it has a Porsche engine and is one of 200 built to work on Coffee farms. Streamlined not for speed, but to keep from damaging the coffee trees.

A german magazine commissioned an artist's interpretation, which doesn't have quite the panache of the version above, with these knife edge narrow guards, and huge chrome radiator surround. The headlights seem to perch out front with no shaping or nacelle merging back into the guards.

I'm not sold on the accuracy of the blue rendering.

About the Dubonnet Dolphin… “The financially independent André Dubonnet was developing in France during the first half of the 1930s under the type description Dolphin an aerodynamic car, which however did not inspire interest among the industry. With the knowledge of his time as pilot during the First World War and his success on Europe´s race tracks behind the steering wheel of Bugatti and Sunbeam, Dubonnet was dreaming of a streamlined car, which could also be produced in series. Together with the engineer Chedru, he was creating a car body around the drive with a 3.6 liters V8 engine of Ford, which was strongly focused on a drop shape..........................

Compared with a series model, the French proved that his aero dynamical performance were right, as the car was achieving a maximum speed of 173 km/h (108 mph), while the serial-production Ford was only achieving 131 km/h (82 mph). But this success could not convince any company to produce his car in series and so André Dubonnet was dedicating to other projects and his unique formed car disappeared from the picture.”
