Lightyear 0 Nears Production, but Who Is It For?

Quote:
Dutch EV startup Lightyear is about to begin production of its long-awaited sedan, engineered to take advantage of every last joule thanks to a very aerodynamic profile and solar body panels meant to deliver an extra kick. You may remember its prototype with the name Lightyear One from last winter, but as it heads into production the startup has renamed it Lightyear 0.

.........It is also expected to be far more expensive than other EVs with a battery pack of its size, with a price tag of $265,000. The automaker plans to build just under a thousand examples, intended to be more of a technology demonstrator than anything else.

' $ 265,000'

Well, I guess I'm done following their progress. I thought the idea was to to produce a car 'people' could actually afford.

McLaren Solus GT
https://www.carscoops.com/2022/08/ta...p-a-racetrack/

https://www.motortrend.com/events/20...t-look-review/

I assume the above McLaren is more aerodynamic than the below 3D printed Czinger-21c, but by how much?

Aren't they both taking an front open wheel layout and partially covering it up?

https://www.topgear.com/car-news/sup...ec-czinger-21c

https://topcarnews.net/czinger-21c-h...t-s125178.html

Upon examination, looks like they both let a fair amount of air to get in and pass through ample front openings.

McLaren foil shapes the struts and allows "airflow" to pass, be it disturbed a bit.

Czinger-21c pressurizes the air somewhat and exits air out the wheel-wells at about a 45 degree angle.

EDIT:

Looks like the production model of the Czinger-21c has some venting, possible downforce via front cowl that the earlier concepts lacked.

https://www.motoringresearch.com/car...t-czinger-21c/

If anyone finds drag numbers (Cd) of either car, please post them.

I expect to be disappointed.

Perhaps the car which does both things I'm seeing at the front wheel would be the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

I came here to post this and you have one of the seven vehicles highlighted:

Another example of the smooth top/open wheel genre is the Ariel Hipercar.

[a little suprised newsreviewbooks' post persists]

Here's a look into a 'top secret' wind tunnel in Ingolstadt.

They talk about a moving road but their example car is sitting on four pads.

Lady Norah Docker had a knack for marrying well, surpassed only by her talent for designing expensive cars (and getting someone else to foot the bill.)

Instead of aerohead's Paris dressmakers, it was a London dance hall hostess.

Three-view drawings fo the slickest car ever:

Quote:
The bodywork had undergone wind tunnel testing at the Politecnico di Torino facilities, with tests showing a drag coefficient of Cd=0.14 on a one-fifth scale model of the car.

This is ingenious:

JACG: A body shop owner in Idaho who also built custom cars, grafted the roof of a 1965 Olds Vista Cruiser onto a 1962 Ford Thunderbird.

The Aero Minor is a Czechoslovakia automobile that was manufactured by Aero from 1946 until 1952.

justacarguy.blogspot.com/2022/10/kim-just-told-me-about-aero-minor.html

Quote:
It was designed by Jawa Motors engineers on their previous Jawa Minor design; they worked on it secretly during the German occupation of Czechoslovakia.

It had a two-cylinder, two-stroke 20 hp engine with 615cc displacement and front wheel drive. The car reached speeds of up to 90 km/h.
90 km/h prolly refers to the sedan.
Quote:
The car was also successful in car competitions and on the racetrack. A sports version Aero Minor Sport competed at 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1949, where it won its class
I think i qualifies as a bubble top coupe. Air scoop in the windshield header, and grillework that is a perforate badge.
