If he follows that plan, I'll bet the next lesson in the series will be lift. Usually, the turbulators go on after tuft testing shows there's no other solution. Somebody is probably going to re-write their license plate visibility rules, too. I hope he relocates both plate and lights, or at least discovers clear covers.

A very interesting article, to me anyway.... www.customcarchronicle.com: History of the Early Custom Car by Rik Hoving

He starts with the 1933 Cadillac Aerodynamic V16 Coupé displayed in the GM pavilion at the 1933-34 “Century of Progress” Chicago Worlds Fair.

Declares this the first important custom car, the So-California Plating Co. 1935 Ford designed by George DuVall and created by DuVall, Kurtis Chad Schultz, George Thomas Top Shop and Jimmy Summers

This was a four-door sedan stretched a foot and converted to a sedan delivery. A details I hadn't noticed is the Woodlite headlights, normally in freestanding chrome nacelles, embedded into the fenders. The original high-tech lgihting.

This picture captures it's importance, placing it between the 1932 Ford shop truck and a typical car of the era. Lots of interesting stuff as well, here's Gordon Beurig's first car -- A 1930 Model A Ford. It ahd a step-down frame like a later Hudson.

Before they went all Hollywood, Emory Motorsports was in Eola Village, North of Amity, OR. I used to go to their swap meet.

They were getting into flathead fours as well. That's where I saw the show-room fresh unrestored right-hand-drive 1954 barn door 23 window bus. Two years in a row. You have no idea what the original upholstery and carpeting was like.

Nice article but that's not the one. It was Chestnut Brown over Sealing Wax Red. Looking like it just rolled out of the daler's showroom.

The campout were a long weekend but they let the VW volk in on Sunday for the swap meet. The archetype was a 356 with a canoe upside down on the roof, parked in front of that teepee.

Best VW ever IMHO was the never-finished 1952 Beetle rat rod It had a Superbeetle nose grafted onto the back, complete with the [now suicide] doors, and the cowl [with crotch coolers] moved back.

I've got a picture of it somewhere.
