Other than attempting to pump up my tyres using one of those *** lighter tyre inflator things (why are they always so cr@p ?) I've done no mods - yet.
Cheers-It cerainly cleans up the front of the engine Bay-the real difficulty will be figuring out how to block the rest..

Yesh cheapest I've seen is 1.269-hence me seeing what a 'fast tank' costs per mile. Tbh I reckon there may not be too much in it

Re the tyres,I always use a footpump-old fashioned,but reliable

+1 with the foot pump, but the gauges on them all seem random.

all relative really- if it shows as low on mine it gets pumped up. no idea if my 40psi is 40psi, but it seems to help the RR

Currently this tank is not looking too bad, even after my 80 mile 70mph dash

we'll likely see on Thurs

Another tank done, and all the high speed (60-70) running has had an impact, but much less than I expected..

414.1 miles on 57.86L gives 32.54mpg (imp)

Now I have a new tank, I'm back to the 50-60mph bimble..

I'm hoping for 35 out the next tank

Latest Tank in..

427.2 on 56.55l gives 34.34mpg IMP.

Some progress back up to the values I'm after

Have noticed that the car struggles to heat up in the colder mornings, so I think a full service inc thermostat replacement is due- would be good to get the coolant changed before the Winter creeps in.

going to order the stuff tonight

In other news, I got some new suspension for it

The dampers are Bilstein B8's- just about the best non coilover you can get for the e30, The springs are unknown (likely swap to whats fitted currently). They are £300 for a pair of fronts, and £220 for a pair of rears.

The 51mm struts they are fitted to are about £70 in their own right, and the Topmounts are e30 M3 ones, eccentric for more camber £100 a side

the struts have relatively new (18month) old bearings fitted. £40 a side

suffice to say, I didnt pay £860

I'm over the moon

Now I just need to get the Burd's car in for its suspension refresh before fitting these..

Also, I'm gearing up for a raid on B& Q for insulating strips to seal the grill

Back home ok- turned out that one of the pins on the pump had loosened itself from the rest of the pump, so contact was poor.

a cable tie and some waggling got it running again- will fit a new one asap

You have to love them just to drive them ;-)
But to be honest I like those old cars because of their moods, soul and that X factor that makes them unique. Those new ones are just computerized too much IMHO.

Anyway good that was just loose connection

Indeed! It would happen the one day I didnt have the tools in the boot!

that said, the fact that its at worst another £20 pump and 20 mins work, rather than £800 for a diesel high pressure pump and £300 to bleed the fuel system is not lost on me

What are you talking about??? I had my engine in pieces, pump as well and whole fuel system disconnected during Berta's restoration... After assembling everything back I just connected battery and cranked engine for about 20 seconds and it started without any trouble! Bleeding fuel system is just charging money for nothing!
