No I drilled a 1/16 hole at the bottom of the intercooler before the maf sensor which only decreases just the boost rather insignificantly, so much so I can't detect it on a boost/ vacuum gauge.
The complaint about running poorly concerns the rather constant need to do regens which does hugely alter the fuel map and performance and the also injection timing VW changed. It ran very well with no CEL after the intercooler hole before they neutered it in the software. Recall that I had drilled this years prior to dieselgate.
