Yes, it was made by a major OEM supplier.
Here's a hint; Bosch didn't do it.

All of you honestly are very clever!
Arragonis: your guess about the Model T is a very good one. I didn't have a clue myself that it was under the seat!
But that is still not it!
This is not an obscure car at all!

Cadillacs from the '50s had the fuel filler behind the tail light, and so did '56 and '57 Chevs. Or did someone answer this already? Willys CJ3 - CJ5 had the tank under the seat, but someone said that already I think. I am confused!
And Rochester fuel injection like on early Corvettes. I think it was them anyway, if it wasn't Bosch.

To WW,
SURVEYS SAID ( think of Family Fued ),
BOOOOONGGG (BIG "X")
So sorry, that's not the answer.
That fuel injection system was mechanical and we are looking for an electronic system.

If Bosch didn't do it, then it had to be Bendix.

Guessing rochester on the fi. Can't remember the automstic manual tranny. VW had an electronic FI early on but it was a bosch if I remember correctly, and an auto manual tranny. A grand prix car had the preselestor transmission and a really famous driver frim italy really loved it after he figured it out on the track in the 20s they didn't tell him about it and he had no practice time before the race. not going to google any of these for fairness.
