Here's an interesting opportunity and your chance to own a Tri-magnum (reverse trike). This design was was built years ago using plans available from the Feb 1983 Edition of Mechanix Illustrated. This example was mostly completed but should be considered a project. It's on a rolling chassis but needs to be finished. It's a solid build and stands roughly 42 inches tall, and about 14 feet long. The Goldwing underneath was disassembled and is basically non-functional. The good news is this Trimagnum comes with a nice, complete, 1980 Goldwing 1100cc (with clean paperwork) that will slide right in place of the non-functional one. The 1980 Goldwing has had a single barrel carb adapted to it for reliability - however - the original 4 carb unit is included. Google "Trimagnum" to learn more and see what others have done with theirs. Youtube videos of these are not difficult to find. The performance of a Trimagnum is basically limited only by the donor bike used. How wild do you wanna get with this spaceship????

Probably not all that aerodynamic, but neat. Thoughts?

I looked up that design earlier today, too bad that the body does not taper more because of those rear taillights and the back half of the front wheels coverings isn't blended into the body.

If it were my time and money I'd rather invest in a Lotus Esprit barn find project car and at least have a remote hope of recouping my money.

I wonder what it would take to bring this Elan back to life.

I used to own one. Though mine was done a bit different. But the Honda Goldwing conversions (tri-magnum conversion kit) used to be very popular back in the 80's. Here's some info on them.

The XR-3 is front or rear drive (or through-the-road hybrid). The Scarab was based on a motorcycle, but you could revert back seasonally. The Blackjack Zero has a flat four in front.

I'm going to go with the non-EM suggestion: slot in a 1987-up GW with the six cylinder engine. That gets you a reverse "gear."
