I feel like slouching is a must in the Prius' rear seat. I'm only 5'4" and I can touch my head to the ceiling if i sit up straight. Those with perfect posture should sit in the front seats.

I guess I'm old school. A small car is a small car, there are still some normal size cars, and really no more large cars, only some SUVs and crossovers I would consider large. I remember back in 1974 our family of 4 took a trip from Montana to Disneyland in a MG midget. 2300 miles in the boot well of an MG with my 7 year old brother (I was 4)? Oh yeah baby! I don't even remember the drive, we were going to Disneyland! Nowadays they would put my dad in jail... The next year he bought a newer Thunderbird, I think we could carry the MG around in the trunk instead of a spair tire. Small car, and large car, everything else is a normal car.

If you really want leg room in a cheap car, sit in the back of a Scion xB (1st (and only IMO) generation) I think they have more legroom in the back than the front seats at their furthest slid position.

Headroom also plentiful!

The people in the back of my car are getting a free ride. I don't care if they are comfortable...

That said, I do want to sleep in the back of the Prius.

Wow. You're right. "front 45.3, rear 38"

That handily beats my Fit at 41/35, Prius at 42/36, and Fiesta at 42/31.

I must have gone to a different old school. Seems to me that there really are very few small cars any more, and (barring exotics like the Lotus) the few that try to be small are what I call 'muffin cars' (like the Smart or the new Fiat) that have a small footprint, but are disproportionately tall.

Heh. Saw a small convoy of MGs last weekend. Made my Fit seem huge.

I really hope small cars make a comeback. Small engines too. Fords 1L has won engine of the year a few years in a row. Don't know how much credibility that holds but we need more tiny euro engines over here! And some TDI Polos while yer at it!

Sick of seeing small cars lose their charm through each generation. Scion xB 2nd gen went from 1.5L 2500lbs to 2.4L 3000lbs! WTF! Mini Coopers are larger. Fits are probably larger. Yaris probably larger etc...

I loved U turns in my Miata, I could U turn and end up in the "fast lane" opposed to hitting the curb in the "slow lane" as a truck would.

Totally agree. A 1L motor with a small turbo, 3.73 gearing and a 5-seater would probably still get 50's, while also having umph when you need it. Of course a 2 seater version for us guys with no kids would be necessary :P.

55mpg @ 68mph
60mpg @ 55mph
Per Fords inflated digital readout. So 53/57? 50/55? Either way still amazing for the amount of speed on tap if you need to get up and go on a short merge.

Right and a two seater for my wife and I and our daughter Sallie Mae
