Wow, great to see all of these people from the Mid-West . I'm in Columbia Missouri here, I've actually seen Andrew J. cruising around town in his modded civic. If any of you Columbians want to meet up let me know! Hell, I work at a little Sandwich shop that some of you college kids might have been to. Anyone heard of the Lee Street Deli? 5'5 Long blonde-haired high school boy, that's me.
Anywho, very excited to find this thread.

Is he still around??? I've PM'd him a couple of times, but lately have not gotten a reply.

If you see him, get a couple of buddies and run him down, then drag him to a library somewhere, or supply him with a laptop and wireless access for the afternoon, so the rest of us can see what's going on with his Civic!!!

Topeka, KS here! Frequently in Kansas City, as I was tonight, in the '95 Honda VX.

I got you on the list! I'm a former ASE Master Automotive Craftsman myself... if that has anything to do with "older tech"...

:-)

Oldertech

Hi,

"Oldertech" is the domain I set up years ago at oldertech.com. It is to reflect my interest in older technology that in some ways is superior or at least more interesting than current technology. It's a respect for innovation that often doesn't get respect. It's supporting an "underdog." I've done that all my life in different areas. The Honda Civic VX technology fits in exactly. As does Hypermiling.

Wish I were a trained mechanic. I'd have far fewer "goofs."

Scott

Don't bet on it! I was a Master Tech long enough to get my Recert. Gold Plaque. Maybe less of a percentage of repairs had goofs, but it was still difficult to go through a day without some kind of Major Pain. I did everything electrical except Driveability, and electrons have funny ways of doing things sometimes...

Hypermiling to me is almost past being a game when I'm on the road. The better I'm doing on a tank of gas, the more motivated I am to make it better. I'll even take a longer route to get from A to B if I know I can get better mileage out of it, LOL! Nothing wasteful, though...

Hey all you folks in Misery (and Kansas too ) I'll be checking in every once-in-awhile to see what sort of plans come together. I have family in St. Louis, so I'm up there every couple of years or so. Might be heading that way around the end of June, I'll know better in a couple of weeks. I could at least pretend to be a local; I was born in St. Louis, is that good enough?

HA! What's this "pretending" to be local??? If you know the REAL spelling of the Show-Me state's name, then you count!

I wish folks in KC and STL would get the ball rolling for their particular area. Maybe join forces with an energy expo of some kind, and have a group meet at the expo. Anything to keep the grassroots growing. Columbia has something related, as I remember. As for Springfield, I can't find a blessed thing except 4X4 and Hot Rod and Antique whatever meets. I'll check farther, to see if I'm missing something...

I'm thinking of contacting a few folks in the area who do solar/biodiesel/electrics to see if we can pull something together if there isn't already something. The Missouri AEAA group has a couple of members in this area, but KC is a pretty long trip to make. Maybe have a splinter group here...
