Misery! I resemble that remark
I'm not in a position to organize one, but I would attend an FE "Car Show" in the area (if I'm in town).
It doesn't have to be complicated -- something like, let's all meet at the local Mall parking lot on Saturday at 3pm. I've learned that even if 1 other person shows up, you can learn a lot about the topic.
Let's throw-out some dates and locations --
I'll start, Independence Center Mall, Saturday May 30 at 3pm. (I-70 and I-470 / East KC area). Alternatively, I used to autocross at the Stadiums lot -- I wonder if they're open when the Royals are on the road. They probably charge...

Gloom, Despair, and Misery...
Well, I don't want to be a party pooper... I can't do the 30th. If you can get a majority, though, go for it.
When we decide on something, I could contact everyone through the links on the list I put together.
I'm still open all of the Saturday afternoons in June. I also have family within 5 miles of East 70/470...

Honestly, it was just an example for a starting point (with the hopes it could turn into something) Easy highway access might draw more folks with convenience. If the St. Louis folks want to compromise, we could do Columbia.
I know lots of us have commitments on the weekends + summer vacations. Maybe we could initiate a poll of sorts, list some weekends, and get a vote going (maybe team that with absolutely unavailable weekends).
I recall Johnny Mullet had a great get together in NE Ohio last year sometime... he may be a good resource on organizing an event.

I've added Hugh Jim to the list, and will spend free time (whatever that is...) today contacting those on the list for possible days to meet. If we end up with only MO people on the best day, maybe we could find something in Columbia. If we have some Kansas people going, then KC will most likely be the best...
EDIT... okay, maybe Friday...

Okay... I'm Getting To It... Lol!!!
Whew! Enough storm cleanup, and power outages, and final papers already!!!
I have a letter typed up, and will send it out today to everyone that has replied to this thread. We'll start by seeing if there would be a quorum that could meet on any certain Saturday in June, and then at any certain city.
After that, maybe July...
... I wonder if we could get away with calling it an EcoPalooza, even if it starts out very small?

I'll check the dates Intrigued emailed to me with the wife's schedule. STL,CoMo, or KC would be good with us - just if we have the weekend open.

Looks like my plans will have me in St. Louis for the weekend of June 27th. I'll be in the suburb of Webster Groves, with a possibility of being in the Wright City area (abt. 45min west of STL on Hwy I 70).
I won't have a lot of time to dedicate to the meet cause I'll only be in town for a few days, with the main goal of the trip being to visit family. So the St. Louis area would be perfect, and Columbia would be about the edge of practicality distance-wise and time-wise (more time driving = less time hanging out).

Kansas City it is!
Or rather, Independence, if you want to get technical...
Well, I only got a handful of replies, and the majority can do something in Kansas City on June 27th, 2009. I Googled a couple of places, and it looks like the Independence Center Mall has the easiest access in the area. Here is a link to the view of the mall:
Independence Center Mall
The best way to get there is the 39th Street exit, although it is within sight of the 70/470 intersection. if you're on 39th, the first right is the mall access street. If going north on 291/470, then just cross 39th after exiting.
On the west side of the mall is a Sears, with a parking lot right there where the road to the mall meets the mall loop. I'll be right there from around 1 pm until 4. I'm gonna drive this even if no one else shows up, because I've been itching to see what I can get out of the Intrigue driving ALL highway miles.
I'm also working on getting bumper stickers/letter appliques. If all goes as planned, I'll have something for each modder that shows up!
Anyone thinking about a meet in July or August???
Dan
