Only needs to go 1 direction.
A gokart cvt should provide plenty of gear ratio.

EVs main weakness is the cold, towing or anything long range.

How do you tow anything when using the pusher?

A proper commercial “pusher” would allow owners to continue using old tired “leaves” that no longer have enough battery capacity for daily use.

The trouble I’ve seen is you have a lot of purists who have zero tolerance for fuel burners, especially those from Europe they have no comprehension, or views of fair play , sadly that mentality seems to be present amongst most everyone these days.
In my case, weighing the pusher's pros and cons got me more cons. If I used the ol' diesel VW as the pusher, that would have meant chopping up my long distance car. So meanwhile I'd have to borrow or rent to go long distances. I thought about using another engine, like what Oil Pan is doing. But for me it just didn't seem worth the time or effort.

Ideally it would be nice to own both a an EV and an ICEV, or just one PHEV. The problem is that EV tech, hybrid or not, is just too expensive to justify both. If I could trade my Prius over for a Volt or Spark EV or any EV with at least 4 seats, except maybe a Leaf, I would do that.

Yeah I wouldn’t tear down a good running car to mod another

But I would take two crap ones to make one functional one

So this is your distance car?

Lol, a running FWD with a demolished rear sometimes can run and drive, on a trailer the stopping action could be inop and the rear axle missing or inop.

Had it been easier to re-title such a salvaged vehicle in my country as a (road-legal) tractor, I would be quite tempted to match one to a trailer similar to those often fitted to a 2-wheel tiller-tractor.
