Did the E that must not be named ever expect to make cars? Why does there seem to be a market for Arcimoto at Yaris prices, but not for E?

The E that must not be named put a price on the vehicle for which everyone with half a working brain knew it could not be made. It all was a lie-o.

Lightyear put a hefty price on their car - and got hundreds of people committing to put that much money down for it. I have little doubt that they can build the car for that money, so it will likely be built and sold.

Even though it (seems like it) was a scam, Elio still collected deposits through mid-2017 from more than 65,000 people who wanted one before they stopped accepting reservations. Tesla took more than 450,000 reservations and has delivered around 400,000 Model 3s.

Not so great discovery about energy density, but if they could improve the number of cicles, the litihum batteries could compensate more for their high price.

https://www.mining.com/researchers-i...m-ion-battery/

https://www.forbes.com/sites/arielco.../#713a0bba33e3

The title it's very trick, cheater... Million miles...

And there is the bad side...
It uses more colbalt (cobalçt it's linked to war in Africa) which rise the price.
It have lower energy density. (about 20% less)

I haven't heard of any link between cobalt and war; though anything of value has potential for conflict. What I have heard is that Congo is poor, and their working conditions are below the standards most of us in wealthy countries would consider acceptable. The problem isn't Cobalt, it is the situation in Congo.

If I were a betting person, I'd bet that cobalt mining in Congo is a net benefit to them than a net negative. It's unrealistic to expect an individual or a nation that has very little to instantly rise to the standards we're accustomed to. As long as they aren't pursuing a nuclear weapons program to aim at us, money going to Congo sounds fine to me.

Cobalt and war, I don't recall seeing a link.
But cobalt, slavery and child labor go together like peanut butter, jelly and bread.

Arcimoto will eventually have a cheaper vehicle for sale. The E that must not be named could have had a more expensive model establish the company until they were profitable. All E ever produced were excuses.

The VW XL-1 has a 0.19 CD

It's better at costing more than most cars, at $135,000.

They claim a 135Wh/mile consumption, but there's zero chance they achieve that in real world conditions.

I see lots that I like in the car, such as a streamlined shape and what appears to be a very usable interior space.

What's not to love is that ridiculous solar panel attached to the car. It's like the gold chain of green-boasting. Practically worthless, but sure to draw a lot of attention.
The Lightyear One seats five people. The VW XL1 seats two - and it burns diesel. It is not as efficient, and it has an exhaust pipe.

Like I said, I like the aerodynamic properties of the car. They will have to add mirrors if they want any US customers, and I wonder what the Cd will be then. The Model 3 is 0.23, which isn't too shabby. I'd take the slightly worse aero design to pay nearly $100k less, while also having a higher performing car that charges very quickly on the most extensive DCFC network in the US.
