My dad ended up purchasing 2x Pb-acid batteries for the truck even though I told him not to... so I haven't been running caps in the truck. I've got another problem with the truck where it keeps cycling the grid heater because the speedo isn't working. It's supposed to stop cycling the grid heater once it detects the speed above something like 10 MPH.

My caps are the 3400 F ones that have a slightly higher voltage rating, so I only bought 5 of them. I might still replace one of the Pb-acid batteries with the cap bank.

I've got a 6s 400 F rated caps in my motorcycle for the past 5 years and no issues.

I pulled mine out recently and haven't had a chance to diagnose, voltage was dipping really low and I suspect one of the caps might have died.

The reason i ask is because I have another window of opportunity to order from the chinese.

They claim that they are genuine maxwell caps. (Same seller as in the previously stated).

If there is something shoddy about them, i woulp prefer not to make the purchase as buying something in my current idiocracy is very e pensive. I have already lost one shipment to bureaucratic greed.

I hear a lot of stories about caps not being matched, being DOA, or failing prematurely. Out of 6 Eaton caps and 11 Maxwell's, I've never had an issue.

Keep in mind though that I'm running balance LEDs on the Eaton's in my motorcycle, and don't really use the 11 Maxwells. I've experimented with them, but they aren't being used daily.

My assumption is that people with failed caps either got something cheap or knockoff, or they were unlucky. When you're paying as much as we are for caps, they had better last.

I always look on octopart for the lowest prices before settling on mouser or digikey.

Are those the 3000f maxwells from china?

The reason I ask is that I will try to get them again.

And one cap may be bad :S

Could you give it a check? With my extra hassle to get them, I am slightly fearful at the moment.

I think of they're working great, they're awesome. If I could do it again I would probably go with caps 1/2 or 1/3 the size and a small battery, having a battery makes having so much capacitance unnecessary.

I'll see about testing them this weekend. My to-do list is so long I'm feeling sick thinking about it, but figuring that out is a priority for me too.
