If it were to be a permanent thing I'd have done so. Just waiting on engine mounts. I was hoping to have this project wrapped up last November.

Well, today is a miserable day for me.
My caps got stuck in customs beginning of February. I have been talking with the customs with no joy. The guy on the phone basically said come over and I may accept a bribe. Sent my cousin over and told him to pay whatever they wanted. He reported back that they were not there. Now the guy on the phone says he does not know. Prbobably some SOB deemed them the appropriate size for anal inhalation and enjoyed the tingle.
Accept my most sincere apologies for the profanities but the financial amount I invested corresponds to 30 hours of work spent away from family. So I am pissed off at the moment.
Nevertheless I will try another route for importing the caps.

I posted this on Spyderchat, thought people here would like it too. LTO batteries are now pretty widely available and can be safely charged at -20C, so I think it's a good solution for folks in cold weather areas.
Here's a pretty economical one: https://www.amazon.com/MiSolar-Energ.../dp/B078RWMGN3
(says sold out right now but the price was about 180 last I checked)
It's a little pricey at over 360 if you want to use 2 to get a more worry-free 17Ah capacity, but it would essentially last forever, so you could even move it to the next car to use.

Interesting... I was not aware of LTO. How long has that been on the market?
I wonder when prices might come down on such products? I'd certainly be tempted to replace all my conventional car batteries if these are as good as claimed.

I believe the Mitsubishi I-MiEV and Honda Fit EV use lithium titanate for their battery. It's been around for quite some time. I believe energy density is lower, but the cycles it can handle are crazy high. Cell voltage is 2.3V nominal so you need ~30% more cells for the same voltage with lithium ion.

Great info! I'll have to keep an eye out for MiEV batteries from wrecks.

Heck yes! You could make 4 battery replacements with those. I wonder what it was removed from? Can't believe shipping is "free". Seems like a very good price.
