Good decision. Lifting com bars and signs of overheat are both bad. You'd only end up pulling it back out in a short period of time anyway.

Oh, so it's safe to use an "AC" amp meter for DC? I really, REALLY like that style.

Hello,
I have a '95 Aspire that I converted to electric. I would have chimed in earlier but I just came across this thread. One thing you might want to think about is the amount of weight you add to the rear of the car. I have about 500 lbs of batteries in the back and about 190 under the rear seat, and the rear suspension has pretty much bottomed out. Someday I'd like to try to move 2 of the batteries to the front to see if that makes a noticeable difference.

David

In an ecomodder thread another Aspire project was photographed. I noticed a fordaspire.com decal in a photo- and joined quite an interesting group! I never really knew about the Kia Avella, or the options on Aspires in other countries. Not much interest to those without Aspires but I thought someone might have one!

Hey LouMan - Try Galco for the VLA500-01's! I got two of 'em, and they even sent a chocolate bar in the box with a custom Galco wrapper! Shipped out and arrived practically overnight. Pics in the next day or three.

Wow! That is some crisp turn on and turn off!!! Beautiful. Absolutely awesome! I can't wait to hear how it does, with what sort of current it can handle, and the heating, and everything. This is really exciting!!!!! Way to Go, Louie! You are the man!

Nice work Lou. One question. Not sure i understand how the two diodes are keeping the high side turned off?

One slight critisism i would make is the capacitor bank connection to the igbt. Looks a bit long and thin. Inductance here is really bad. That said its just theory. I was told that my controller wouldn't move the car 3 feet before blowing. 1500 miles and 152v later ......
