Still the big issue to tackle is the 80mph fuel efficiency. I’m extremely satisfied with city and back country farm road driving and mpg. Wide open interstate at 80 though, very depressing. Better than most others on the road, but I Desire more

Clean up everything you can and see where that lands you.
You can always install a receiver-hitch, and do some elongation. That's where the 'magic' is. 'Money-maker.' 'Cash-back.' 'Trailing-edge technology.' 'Wake-be-gone. 'Drag-Slayer.'
If Illuminati Motors had boat-tailed the rear sides of their 2012 X-Prize car and not just the 'roofline,' they'd have been at Cd 0.13 instead of 0.165.

i definitely need to clean up the bottom of the car a little more and then add some separation edges at a few parts of the car rear. wish i had those pressure testing probes

Tried cardboard rear diffuser test tonight with a b testing. First run was fine with no diffuser. Second run with diffuser- cardboard split in half on the highway under high aero load. Luckily no one was behind me when it happened. I think some air got up under it and there was too much pressure. Who knows. So waste of gas and no results

Always results from tests. You know where pressure is plus next time more tape, glue or rivets

...so far.
CAD is an iterative process.

The 'failures' provided extremely valuable information.
Elon Musk would be nowhere if hadn't almost bankrupted himself, blowing up most of his rockets!

Just some extra info on how the rest behaves and separation edges based on dust during my trip yesterday. Definitely check out the third picture. You can see how they designed the rear to allow air to wrap around the back to clear off the back up camera. You can see the small area they didn’t use a separation edge, the air stays attached all the way around the back and creates a dark ribbon. Nice way to keep the camera clear of dust build up, but also it’s gotta be adding drag if the area is staying stuck to the rear right?
Just providing some extra Ioniq info and if anyone wants to share thoughts, go ahead

If you were to smear a light coat of petroleum jelly back there, and repeat, it might reveal even more detail.
We still have caliche roads nearby. It's like driving on talcum powder or diatomaceous earth. 'EVERYTHING' gets caked over!
