Yes. And a curious thing too!
When they took it to the Bonneville Salt Flats for a land speed record attempt, they taped up the air-curtains, changed to MOON wheel covers, as well as lowering it, mirror-delete, narrow racing slicks.
Ford Motor Company has stated that front wheel skirts are the lowest-drag solution for the front wheels.
(A nine-percent drag reduction reported for their 1983 Probe-IV concept , delta 13.6 -counts)

I would have loved to have had one of those for my recent road trip.

Half boat tail box cavity thing too. I’m definitely into extending my Ioniq a bit more. Apparently it’s even shorter than your basic Toyota Corolla and even 2 feet shorter than a Tesla model s. Doesn’t make much sense for Hyundai to do that. They could have extended it to a normal car length and got a better drag coefficient and had even more storage room, which is a selling point for the car also.

You're looking at the right stuff!
The Lightyear is Cd 0.20.
It has a 50.4% aft-body.
It's roof contour fits the 1922 Jaray half-body / 1935 FKFS K-form half-body / AST-II 'template.' I've been unable to locate a plan-view image of it.
Again, it's got some of that 'elongation' you'd need to cheat the air outta some $.
Basjoos recommendation for a hitch-mounted tail still stands.
Yearly, HARBOR FREIGHT TOOLS will put their light-weight, all-aluminum cargo carrier on sale. It would make a safe, stable mounting platform for a home-built tail. We're planning this for AeroStealth's Chevy BOLT as part of his 'kit.'

How would you handle the hatch and tail lights? The Light Year One seems to have an abrupt diffuser. The notable feature for me is the conformal solar array. Someone should make those to fit an old VW bus.

Hyundai length

It may have been Luc Donckerwolke who penned your car. He came over to Hyundai / KIA / Genesis from being Chief of Design @ Bentley.
The final dimensions of IONIQ may have been associated with classic proportions mentioned in styling / design. Certain aesthetic considerations for the market they intend to serve and compete within.
Dr. Wolf Heinrich Hucho spoke of 'risk to sales' with respect to design considerations and specifications.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One insightful comment:
' If we were to design the cars 100% streamlined, following all the aerodynamic principles, would not all cars look exactly alike and the designers have nothing to do?'
H. Schmude, General Motors Corporation, to Walter Korff, Lockheed Aircraft Company, SAE Congress, 1963
( duPont- General Motors Corporation, 'invented' the annual styling change, introducing design obsolescence, after dealer sales departments expressed concern that all cars were beginning to look alike, in 1927 )

Install a 4 or 7 pin trailer plug on the back of the car when you install the Reese hitch and plug the hitch mounted boat tail light wiring into that. Treat the taillights built into the boat tail as you would a set of trailer lights You would also need to relocate the car’s license plate to the back of the boat tail whenever it was in use.
