It's too bad my bike doesn't have space for it's mpg!
This is a pretty good idea but I'm not sure it will anger impatient people less, which I need a solution for.

It didn't draw as much attention as writing on the windows, but a year or so ago I had repainted and used stick on lettering on some of those magnetic business card size magnets, it allowed me to easily change what otherwise looked like a sticker, the print was very clear and easy to read, and I could move them around, or remove them all together.

I just did that for this "interior sign" in my rear window :
Since my car is mostly plastic, I need a "sign with metal on it" to make it work.
The "##+ TOTAL MPG" is awkward, but I don't want someone to think "Big deal, I can get 40 MPG on the highway". I wish there was already an accepted acronym like CMPG, i.e. Combined MPG.

Agreed. I have also been thinking of doing that!
I have also been looking for one of those slow moving vehicle triangles that the Amish use for their buggies. I have found plenty of metal ones, but I would like a sticker/magnetic one that would stick the the back of my hatch.

Go to the Farmer's Co-Op or Tractor Supply Company store - they've got those triangles out the wazoo. Lowe's or Wal-mart (hex, hex!) can set you up with adhesive magnets to stick the sign to your car.
I'v got a little stamp-makers shop just at the end of the block from me, they could make me a little sign I could mount in the back window. Last fill up: 30.77mpg, woohoo!

I think that anything written on a car window is going to get more attention then a sticker, or something that is inside of the window, unless it lights up, it's just how people's minds work, and proof of this is the number of questions people ask.

I agree that stickers are "filtered out". Since I use reflective stickers, I know mine are more visible at night.

I showed my wife the pic in the first post. I like the idea. She doesn't.
Where did the 31.8 come from though? It doesn't match your fuel logs. I noticed as I was trying to figure out how you're managing almost as good fuel economy in a pickup as I am in a compact. Nice job!
