My interest in "supercars" dwindled drastically when our State (in the Land Of The Free And The Home Of The Brave) made getting caught going over 100 mph a felony.

P.S. Evidently the info I read was wrong- 100+ all by itself is a misdemeanor; extenuating circumstances can push it into being a felony. The punishments for 100+ would FEEL like felony punishments though.

...was that done before or after the Prius was governed to 104 mph (wink, wink)?

In the days of the 55 limit it always amazed the rest of of in civilisation that American cars had such big engines to go so slowly.

A Subaru WRX hatchback would be very practical. All wheel drive for winter and plenty of HP and enough storage space. And it's not even as expensive as a supercar.

The Mercedes AMG Wagon would be very practical too.

What is the performance of the new Fiat 600 Abarth? They traditionally made some real road racers. I remember in the 60's they took an 850 sedan and put a 1600 DOHC weber carbed engine in it. They built enough that it was a cartified factory car. Heard it was scary fast.

You mean the new 500 Abarth ?

The standard one has 133hp, the SS has 158hp.

Standard is 0-100kp/h in 7.9, SS is 7.4.
Top speeds are 127 vs 131.

No space to carry much, or rear seats to speak of though.

If I was looking for small and practical then this would have to be it :

Fabia VRS Estate (Station Wagon) -0-60 in 7.3 and 141 top speed, 41 MPG (imp). It also comes with the DSG 6 speed and of course because it has a turbo it has a wick - and a wick can always be turned up.

Once heard a quote from a 1960s Abarth mechanic on TV talking about the 696SS - "The engine, she good for 120. The main bearings, they only good for 100."

I'm surprised at how good the Countach wagon on page 3 actually looks !

While in HighSchool, I repeatedly saw a '66Mustang that a local dentist
must have paid a fortune to wagonize! It really looked pretty good.

Dark greenw black interior!

How about a Porsche 928 wagon?

or if you believe that the 928 was the start of a slippery slope that Porsche managed to avoid falling down, how about a 911 Estate instead ?

Has a look of the CR-Z about the rear maybe ?
