Mounting an OBDii Gauge

I'm looking at picking up an Ultra-Gauge, but the mounting options they offered didn't seem that great (they seemed bigger and clunkier than they really needed to be). I was wondering how you all mounted your respective gauges in your vehicles so that they're both easily visible and non-obstructive (personally, I hate things cluttering up my view of the road).

see this link.
my thoughts:
1. needs to be in the same line of sight as your dash. If you are looking somewhere else you will be distracted or not use it.
It's like a video game. you want to continually look at it to 'see your score'!
2. needs to be firmly mounted. so when you push a button it doesnt move.

Thanks for pointing me to those threads. I did a search, but I guess I still need to work on my terms.

I agree with your thoughts; I'd prefer to see all vehicle related information in one glance.

I got my UG with the standard back clip that it comes with, no extra bracket fee. Then went to Menards and got a 90* angle bracket thing, it slides perfectly into the back of the UG clip. Secure, still able to use the buttons, can screw it in or glue it on, whatever. And very cheap.

As for mounting, in the Grand Am it's above the radio on the flat spot in front of the twin vents. Works great, and it allows me to 'teach' the ladyfriend as we drive what effects MPG. She's learning....

I placed mine with the windshield mount so it sits (visually) just above the steering wheel in a "HUD" position. It is physically still above the dashboard. It doesn't block any view of the road and like mcrews said, the video game is easy to play with it in plain sight. I have speed and engine temp displayed, so I don't need to read the factory instruments very often.

All cars are different enough in layout. Mine just places the gauge visually just above the hood line.....which is the first 10 feet or so in front of the car. I need to be going REAL slow before I car about anythign that close.

I realize it's a few months past, but you could look here: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...-off-6873.html and mcrews is spot on.
