Abalooga, do you have one left, or can make another.
Hi, first post on here. Reason is i am have been looking for a mpg gauge for my obd1 Jeep. Impossible!! My XJ Cherokee OBD1 is terrible on juice, and your econometer would be perfect to help monitor the system and start to drive down the fuel usage.

Thanks,
Alex

Sounds like a perfect candidate!! The reason I even began to make these was my OBD1 V6 Hilux I had. If you know your ecu pinouts the install will be super easy aswell.

Sounds brilliant.
Got your PM and replied.
Did send you an message via your glengineerservice contact a few days ago. Not sure if your checking that one.
Ive sent my personal details. Will check for pinouts on the ECU via my FSM.
Hope to get one up and running. Never seen anything like yours for a OBD1 vehicle, and nothing every for the Jeep.
Cheers,
Alex

So, i found my FSM and printed out all the wiring diagrams for the ECU.
Found the wires for the various injectors and VSS.

Ive also started looking at ways to improve the economy on my brick, so testing the touch screen econometer should work well.

Cheers,

OK, so i have the new touchscreen unit.
Looks really good. I trialed it in the living room with a 12v battery. All the functions and pages are easy to scroll through.
Easy to set up on the Jeep, so i am looking forward to getting it installed the next few days.

Cheers,

So i have installed Glens touch screen MPGuino. Its a great unit. I built a box to house the whole unit in (screen, computer, ribbon). Once wired up and mounted, it was time for a test.
Fired up great. Unit is set up for switched power. Memory function all good.
RPM dead on straight out of the gate.
Hot idle was 3lt per hour. I will adjust to 1.8lt.

Only problem is the commonly noted Speedo jumping around. I have tried the VSS delay with no result. Will look at wiring tomorrow, but i think the signal needs cleaning up. I run a yellow box signal converter that i may need to bi-pass for this unit. Glen has offered to run an oscilloscope over the signal.

Anyway, looking good so far, and amazing unit for and OBD1 Jeep.

Cheers,

The MPGuino Colour is currently fitted in my XJ 4.0 1995 OBD1 Cherokee. It is working really well. Very easy to scroll the screens while driving and check out all the data. It has already helped me change my driving habits for better economy. Once i get more data, i will be moving towards doing some mods to the Jeep to see if they reduce fuel usage.

Cheers,
