I gained 1mpg when I upped my alternator to a 140amp from the pathetic 80A that's stock on my '91. Not to mention my lights don't dim at night anymore.

Also, I would run like 12-14° timing if possible, I gained like 2mpg when I bumped my timing to 14°. Cruising was way easier as was my acceleration. Idk with a 351 if you will be able to run that high of timing without knocking. Again, testing will be needed.

Still, I think stock you can get 19-21 on the freeway, if you do some other mods you can probably get 25ish

How high of compression are you running?
Im going to try to run between 9.5-10:1(until i build my turbo 351). and there is no OBD2 and it will be carbed.Im not trying to put lipstick on a pig because I'm not expecting what you guys get for mileage 35 and up lol. Ill be tickled to death with low to mid 20s at 65mph which isn't to much to ask from a light weight slippery body with some tricks done to it,Thank you all

oldschool, why turbo? Every fox owner I know that lives near me has done turbo, but torn them out within a year and went supercharger because they feel its superior. Especially with a 351, you will have the top end power there at your disposal, what you are going to need is 1500-3500rpm power which is where a supercharger excels.

Maybe? I know my buddy has a extremely powerful Fox (450ish HP with 3.73 gears) and a supercharger and he gets 22-23 at 75mph. He said he got like 27 at 65. So idk. I wouldn't spend so much money and in the end go turbo on it, just saying.

Post them somewhere else, then copy the URL. Click the icon of a painting, and paste the URL.

Balto, I would argue the turbo because the super is always draining on the engine. If OP wants power first, and doesn't care MPG, yepp, SC it. But if he likes power but still has a priority on MPG, then T it up! Plus, one of your points aren't helping...if people are selling turbos for SC, then it will be even cheaper! Plus, he can do a lot of work himself. Tuning may be the biggest challenge.

IMO I would go the turbo route also. You can build a turbo engine for great mpg and performance. With a good turbo match you can control when you want to make power or not.

Here's a pic of a good friends car that we turbo charged and ran a Haltech management system that I tuned. The car gets decent fuel mileage on E85 and ran 9.40 @ 145 mph in the 1/4 @ only 10lbs, it should be running in the low 9's this year when he turns the boost up. Compression is at 9.5:1.
