I looked at your kammback a bunch while I was deciding what to do for mine, I think you're right that the foam core would be a great way to go about this. Now that I've done the way I did, I could do it even better a second time, but if I ever re-do it, I will likely try a similar technique as your insight grill block.

As far as the dating site, you'd be crazy NOT to! That's what got me here and led to creation of my Neon, lol. Despite the fact that I won't be driving as much, I'll still be sticking around, ecomodding/ hypermiling has gone from a means to save money, to actually being fun.

Sorry to see this thread isn't getting updated b/c of your gf.

So, basically, bone stock you were getting 60mpg highway just using HM and some small mods?

Thats nuts.

Well I haven't updated the thread because there haven't been many updates. Basically it's just a bone stock car that kicks @$$. . Yup, good driving technique and a decent route is all that it takes to get a VX around 60 mpg. With winter coming and doing mostly city driving to school and back has dropped my fuel economy down to low 50's. I'm expecting to stay above 45 mpg average for the winter pretty easily.

The only real change to the car is that I added a front air dam. Oddly enough it is from a first generation S10/ Blazer (the square ones), I gave it some relief cuts along the top to let it curve to match the front bumper of the Civic, and I'd say it fits pretty well.

My car is typically bone stock or just slightly modded (upper grill block is needed when it is below 55*F because my engine does not make much heat at all, my thermostat may need inspecting again.) I'll eventually get around to adding an air dam and ducting the air path between the radiator and the intake and between the radiator and exhaust.

I need to update my fuel log, the car has been averaging 62MPG US for the summer.

Here is the newest update of the car, I put it into "winter mode",
This is Plasti-dip. It is a rubberized "paint", that stays flexible and provides good protection, but is entirely removable! I re sprayed my rear bumper because I wasn't happy with it, and i just literally peeled the plasti dip off an resprayed. This stuff is cool because it doesn't hurt the paint under it (it actually protects it). So hopefully this will keep it protected from the salt a bit over the winter (and it's been oil sprayed again). I also put my winter rims/ tires back on (not in the pictures).


The reason that the lights are black is because the plasti dip is so easy to peel/remove that it's easier to just spray over them and peel them, instead of masking them off.

You can also see my air dam in this picture, it's from a first generation S10 with a few relief cuts to fit the curve of the bumper.

I didn't realize they even made that stuff in a spray. I always used the dip. Can you post which exact kind you used? Any tricks to spraying/removing?
