My best tank yet!
Two and a half weeks of driving on new tires that are a touch wider than stock (195 vs. 185-- you can't get decent tires in the xB's stock size) @35psi, plus a better effort at driving technique yielded me 34.6mpg on a tank that was 100% commuting! The EPA city mileage is 27mpg, so I'm 28% above that, and 19% above the EPA combined rating of 29mpg!
I have decided that if I can find wiring diagrams for my car, I'm going to make a kill switch and push button start so I can EOC a bit more. It's a simple mod that just makes it a bit simpler.
I also upped my tires to 42psi, so we'll see how that does.

x3, i just pulled 49mpg on my second to last tank!
question: I'm getting better than 44mpg regularly and want to deleat my first fuel log at 40 mpg. i did that before i started hypermilling (and found this fourm, too). would that be unethical or just elimitatin extreams in statistical variation?

Very nice. Keep it up and refine that skill and you'll be seeing 40s in the near future!

I have been thinking the very same thing, I have a trip from Ca to TX coming up at the end of the month. 3 people and lots of stuff, now of course I want to track it; I mean wide open highway might be awesome mileage but with all the weight I don't want it to hurt my lifetime average. I will post it separate in the trip log but worried about putting it in the regular log.

I'd leave them. Better to show your progress. Heck, look at my Blackfly log. :P
If you don't want to keep them, you can just overwrite with new date & fill info.

I would leave them too; it's encouraging for others to see where you started at.
digitaldissent: Just put a note in your log that you took a trip on that tank; or you can just leave it out. No sense in having a separate log for 1 entry.

nice, I am shooting for 500 too
yeah I decided to just keep it real and put it all in the log and comment on every tank
I think that way people can see how much I have improved and might be encouraged.
