Smooth mods! I just hope the "man" doesn't ticket you. Just looked up some of the vehicle codes for Kansas (I guess you drive in KS from your side profile) and they like wipers with their windshields.

Windshields

Quote:

8-1741
Chapter 8.--AUTOMOBILES AND OTHER VEHICLES
Article 17.--UNIFORM ACT REGULATING TRAFFIC; EQUIPMENT OF VEHICLES

8-1741. Windshields and windows; damaged windshields prohibited; obstruction or impairment prohibited; wipers. (a) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with any sign, poster or other nontransparent material upon the front windshield, side wings or side or rear windows of such vehicle which substantially obstructs, obscures or impairs the driver's clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway.

(b) No person shall drive any motor vehicle with a damaged front windshield or side or rear windows which substantially obstructs the driver's clear view of the highway or any intersecting highway.

(c) The windshield on every motor vehicle shall be equipped with a device for cleaning rain, snow or other moisture from the windshield, which device shall be so constructed as to be controlled or operated by the driver of the vehicle.

(d) Every windshield wiper upon a motor vehicle shall be maintained in good working order.

History: L. 1974, ch. 33, § 8-1741; L. 1993, ch. 37, § 1; July 1.

Ya know, I recall a time when vehicles would tuck the wipers away and off the airstream, why was that not continued ?

Thanks azraelswrd for the information. I don't think the 'man' will argue if I have everything ready to go on at a moments notice. If anything it would be a 'fix it' ticket and wouldn't cost me anything. But thats good information to be armed with. I am working on the skirts now. Came in for a break. I will post pictures tonight of what I come up with. Thanks guys. (I will throw on some paint later too. I kinda liked the aluminum swirl, but the black will blend in!

Ok, so the bright aluminum delete plate was kinda sticking out, so I primered and painted it flat black. Matches perfectly dontcha think?

And here is the begining of the skirt. I took a piece of steel stock and heated and bent it in this position so that I could bolt it on for a SUPER secure skirt.

And then I mounted a couple of 'L' brackets to secure the top of the skirt....

And then I threw it on just to see what she looks like. This is still pretty rough mind you. I still need to shave the edges to make them smooth, and get all the stainless steel hardware to mount it up with. Oh, and don't forget the black paint!! Thats to come tomorrow!

And the super close clearance.....

This thing is secure!!! It wont budge if pulled on! Whatcha think for a rough draft??

You might get a ticket if a cop notices you don't have wipers. What you might do is clean your windshield really well. Then rain-x them really well. Then the rain will roll right off.

Wow, stunning mods all around! The flat black makes the mirror delete OEM, and the wheel skirt is very professional.

Nice skirt work! I liked the bright aluminum mirror blank, now I'm bummed. You skirt work looks like we got the same influence from AndrewJ, see what he's started!

I am trying to work out a good workable front skirt now. Still in planning stages. Once I figure it out I'll get r done.
