If you set the back down too far you'll be catching air all underneath.
When GM ran an S-10 at Bonneville (back when they were selling the Syclone) they found the best drag reduction from having the rear 2/3 of the bed covered, with a solid wall from the front of the cover down to the bottom of the bed. Of course the whole truck was lowered too.

Well I was thinking cost benefit ratio, the front end on an i beam truck is prety pricey to lower, the rear pretty cheap, and could also throw a lower air dam on it the same time, wonder if anybody tried it, seems liike it could offer good results since the roof angle and windsheild angle would be better.

i don't think dropping the back significantly would do any good for mpgs. if you think about the design of an aero cap, the ideal slope actually crosses over the top of the tailgate not below it. with this in mind i cant imagine any aero benefit from just a slammed rear end.

Could be your right but I was thinking about the windshield angle also as well as the roof of the cab starting down earlier,

I have a Ranger axle geared 3.42 just sitting in my garage looking for a new home! It is from my '92 so it is about 2in narrower than yours, perfect if you are doing wheel well covers.

I don't know where pdx is so I figured I would at least offer it up. It's not doing me any good and if I scrap it it is only worth like $10. Worth a try, right?

Did engine maintenance this weekend, cleaned throttle body, IAC, and changed oil to Mobil 1 0w-20 (6k since last change with synth blend). Will be cleaning the MAF sensor once I get some torx security bits from Amazon thursday, seriously WTF Ford why can't you use normal bits?!
Cardboard upper grill block is falling apart due to recent rain showers, have some plans in mind for the replacement but need to get some coroplast or something similar to do so. Probably will remake my sideskirts with coroplast as well if I can score a 4x8 sheet from the sign shop in town.
