I've got a coworker with a 2011 V6 Escape, and even though he's not a very efficient driver, he's getting 20 - 21 mpg on his daily commute, which is about 60/40 city/highway with traffic. Not bad at all for an SUV. Given a more efficient driver, it could probably do a good bit better, and the I4 version is probably worth a couple more mpg.

Wow. 2011 and we still have people saying 20 mpg is "not bad".

But you benefit from the tuning for efficiency at lower RPM.

Well, it's been 2 years and about 8 months (966 days total),
and I have already driven 6,252 miles! Must have burned about 270 gallons of gas.?.

So far, the Escape is running okay. 24 mpg around town when there's no traffic
otherwise it's about 20-22 in stop and go..
My short highway trips down to Homedepot are always impressive. 25-35 MPG, without even trying.
Staying under the speed limit on the flat, nets up to 40 MPG..

I've heard of leaking seals on short shafts and many transmission problems when
this model was pulled behind an RV.. (I can't afford an RV)..
But I've not had any problems at all..

I'll report back in a few years, when I get some miles on..

so how does it feel? letting a computer drive for you :P

took me a while to get used to drive by wire but it has a nice feature.

with a computer you can adjust what your pedal input makes the computer do.

30% pedal can give 20% throttle or vice versa 30% can give 40% for those people who feels it lags and feels out of touch

you can also set a max throttle ie: it will never go over 50% even if you floor it.

^.^ that part works best for me. I have a lead foot so I have mine set to never open over 60% and I have it set to give 5% less throttle then the pedal

its one of these gadgets. I use it along with a scangauge and hondata

The throttle feels normal to me. But, I don't drive a lot..
My right foot/ankle has been badly damaged and I really can't drive very far without using the cruise control..
Even on short drives around town, I use the CC a lot.. On the highway,
I'm always using CC.. Unless it's rush hour..
But being retired, I can usually avoid driving during rush hour..
I love being able to avoid driving when it's snowing..
