Make sure you read that fine print! I build credit with a gasoline credit card and pay it off as soon as I get home. Credit / loans / big banks make me paranoid, I do need it if I ever want to buy a house and some land but I try to stay away as much as possible.
The banks don't hold my money. Well they do in a lock box they just don't know it. lol

UGHHHH!!!

Maybe yall can help with the problem I am having with the wheel bearings.

Here is the new bearing.

Here is the "inside" side of the assembly This side faces the inside of the car when its on.

Here is the "outside" side of the assembly.

Now I was told all I have to do is get a socket the same side as the outside diameter and hit it with a big hammer. What side should I hit it from? From the inside out?? Maybe I don't have a big enough hammer? Maybe I need more PB blaster? Maybe I need a 6-ton shop press??? Maybe a torch? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Any ideas???

Can't comment on the whacking with hammer approach.

Last time I changed front bearings, I took the hub assemblies & parts to a local garage that had a press and they swapped them in.

The streetkiaz.com Facebook group has told me my best bet would be go to the junkyard and look for the entire assembly from any Sephia or a 2000-2004 Spectra. That sounds risky as the bearings seem to fail around 100K

I still plan on going tomorrow with a can of PB blaster and going back the following day to actually turn a few wrenches... I'm really fortunate work is so slow at the moment. (catch 22) I actually have free time to work on this and keep it as cheap as possible.

Sorry this build thread has been so slow...
I have been taking my time doing things....

So now I have my finances in order and things are going good (fair) for me money wise.
When I started this thread I was in serious debt and I have used ecomodding as a tool to save money and have moved out of a house with roommates I didn't want to live with to my own place again.

Now ecomodding is a hobby and more funds will be put towards it!

I am still in the R&D stage of the boattail but I WILL make one! I will promise that!
hopefully in time for the green grand prix in april..

Based on the progress of this thread so far you would have a safe bet to say NO!
But Its all good! I love this lil' KIA and there is nothing I can't fix without a little $$$, blood, sweat and tears.

I would also like this car to be stable / reliable enough to visit family in TN!!

Thanks MetroMPG I will call a few shops tomorrow and ask If they can do the work needed. It would save me alot of time and a few headaches If a shop could do the heavy lifting!!!

Hi,
I see what you mean. It would depress me too. Could the brake pads be dragging on the rotor? How much extra rolling resistance? Bad new bearing? Bearing cocked slightly or not quite in the right position (depth)? Axle shaft not quite fitting into the bearing correctly? Wow, good luck with trouble shooting this.
