Cracker - '90 Honda CRX HF
Thanks: 3
Thanked 1 Time in 1 Post
New CRX owner

Hello all! I am actively joining after buying a 1991 CRX HF with 193k on it. Needs a bunch of things and I plan on restoring it as time goes on. Hope to have input as I get things done on this gas sipper.

Welcome-Rock Auto is a good place to checkout. Just starting to overhaul my 91 ef hatch.
Did you know early 1986 hf's had only 1 compression ring and one set of oil rings per piston? I am only pushing 70 hp pre mod.

I love the CRX. The HF has those crazy wide gear ratios right? Or maybe that is another trim. I will always have a soft spot for the CRX

Do you know if you have the Cali transmission with the 3.250 final drive or the 49 state version with the 2.95 final drive? Both versions had like a 0.690 fifth gear (approx). But if you have the 49 state 2.95 you have by far the tallest gearing around.

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

trans

Not certain but I should have the 49 state trans and the 49 state ecu. I also want to install an air dam, front radiator blocks, rear diffuser, pizza pan wheel covers, Wheel spats, WAI, and someday I'll probably swap it to the D15Z1 after I've collected the swap and rebuilt the engine. One thing at a time!
