Does my wife's Xterra count? That'll probably get Team Nissan's page hosted over at gaspig.com or something.

I am feeling a strong urge to engage in some "motivational speaking" otherwise known as "trash talk". Every time I look at the Team Toyota standings and find that I am #1 among the "non-retired" and congratulate myself for being "...the greatest..." it is short lived, because in less than a few days I am again relegated to 3rd place. If you guys don't stop doing this I will be compelled to keep improving my mpg... and who knows where that will end?

Game On!

The 7th tank under 3l/100km in a line, the 4th one over 80mpg. It's summer, it seems.
I need competiton too, because now eye m the strongest! (9) in my only team. [Cirno for president ]

One day I may join Team Toyota too. Maybe with a Yaris of unknown color.

But until I have to carry too much luggage or we're more than 2 (and it's not freezing (just a little)), riding is more fun

I am more than a little impressed with your 90 day: 80.83 mpg. the moment I thought I was gaining on you, you disapeared into the next mpg zone. I may have to make metal and plastic offerings to the gods of Fuel Economy to get them to help me in this contest of who has to biggest mpg.

Then we all win

In terms of highest MPG it looks like I am third, but to be fair I compare % over epa as that offers an even starting place. in that case I am way ahead of you at 71.9% and Neil is drafting my lead to try and get better then me.

My present tank is at 58.75mpg over 304km [190 miles] which is 83.5% over EPA. If I can keep that up for 90 days then...

I think I am topping out at 52-53 MPG, I need to get a belly pan but then I think I am maxing out the car and my commute. I can EOC for about 25-30% of my commute and that is the best I can do.

I am doing much more EOC now-a-days and that is the most significant change. I range between 14% - 9% EOC. The next aeromod will be rear wheel well covers then the holy grail of aeromodding a boat tail. So many projects so little time.

On my commute I do about the same amount of it, but I really need serious downhill to turn off the engine. I always suspected that the light weight and bad Cd of motorcycles makes them worse at it, and I'm thankful to redyaris for making some measurements:

Quote:
I have been doing more Engine Off Coasting [EOC] with the GS500 and yesterday did a comparison with the redyaris. The test strip starts at the 1Km sign and ends when I have to turn right at the intersection. I start at 80km/hr and with the yaris EOC I have to brake from 50km/hr to 40km/hr to make the turn. The GS500 comes to a stop aprox 50 meters before the turn. The Yaris goes aprox 400 meters further. This is not a flat section of road, it goes downhill to the intersection then uphill after the intersection.
Anyway, yesterday we rode in the hills of Bakony and I could do nice long EOCs (I usually don't turn off the engine until I predict the next coast to be at least 500-600m long, or I want to come to a stop - I don't want to drain the battery too much with the lights, electronics and the starter, it's only 12Ah which must charge slower and I it's very hard to smoothly bumpstart Teresa).
