My aim in life is to end up with the US treasury staking a claim on my money they won't collect. As part of that strategy, I wait until 11pm on tax day to file. One day I'll check out first, and they won't collect.
I'll cash in the two guarantees in life; death and taxes.

You won't pay taxes that year but your estate will.

So I'm guaranteed a victory.
... there are many things I give to without coercion. What if the government relied on people finding value in it, and wanting to support it? Is that too crazy an idea? What if sacrificing ones means voluntarily produced extraordinary results?
Threat of violence to extract the fruits of other's labor seems so passe.

Most likely they would prefer to trap in a pau-de-arara whoever tries to increase fuel taxes to European level.

Do you want to explain the expression?

There are 2 meanings for pau-de-arara in Brazil, one refers to trucks adapted to transport passengers which used to be common in the Nordeste region, and the other is a torture instrument which used to be quite common in the days of the military government. I'm sure any true-blooded redneck would feel tempted to try it with whoever proposes an increase to fuel taxes.

That should reduce prices on top of reducing how much each vehicle consumes, but I did need to independently verify this will be the average.
For some reason the talking heads didn't specify.which would further increase the already crazy used car market.No they don't. Everybody knows that 28 x 1.08 x 1.08 x 1.1 = 35.92
It would be more like 12, 12, and 14%.
That would take you from 28 to 40.
Not even my HX is rated 40 MPG average.

What's the future value of a dollar going to be by that date?
Depending on the CPI and FED, it may mean nothing to the consumer.
I just spent a weekend driving a 126-mpg-e car, that has the capacity for $0.05/kWh, off-peak, net metering, @ $1.87 / gallon equivalency.
That's $ 0.0148 / mile.
Same car with ICE is 32-mpg, and $ 4.099 where we camped. $ 0.128 / mile.
Living in a 'capitalist' nation implies that the BEV w/ Home solar is the better investment. All-American electricity.

Sounds accurate for shorter distances, yet a PHEV would be more interesting to folks who drive longer distances on a regular basis and wouldn't want to spend more having a second car for that usage. Home solar OTOH is undeniably good, and I just don't give it a try because I live in an apartment.
