New VX owner here!

Hello ecomodders!

I have been lurking the forums for a while, searching high and low for a VX (in my price range) for the past couple months, and finally pulled the trigger on one about two weeks ago. It's a 95, paradise green (pretty ugly honestly lol), 242k miles, but a solid driver. No CEL, shift light works, everything functions as it should.

When I got it home, It got a thorough wash, I purchased the OEM VX graphic for the back (it had been repainted and they never replaced it). I purchased the OEM front lip that came on the car from the factory that was missing, and yesterday it got new tires (175/70/13) Champiro VP1 tires. They are cheap tires, but I had good luck with them on my '83 Honda Hatch.

The tires are currently at 40PSI (44PSI on sidewall).

Unfortunately my Odometer/Trip has been working intermittently so I haven't been able to calculate mileage.. I'm searching for a used cluster in my area so I can swap out the speedo/odometer/trip

I haven't checked the plugs in the car yet, but the plug wires aren't OEM, so that's on the list of things to change out, as well as the correct plugs if they aren't right.

I'm currently working on a carbon front grill block and thinking about different wheel aero disc ideas, but I look forward to all the information available to me here.

The intermittent speedo/odometer problem is often caused by a cracked solder joint in the back of the instrument cluster. Pulling out the cluster and reheating all of the solder joints with a soldering iron usually fixes the problem (it has fixed this problem twice for me so far in the 21 years I have owned my 92 civic).

I've read about that actually. I want to try that but I'm also afraid of damaging it considering everything else works perfectly on the cluster. The speedo works 100% of the time, but the trip/odometer seems to get "hung up". Sometimes letting the trip reset snap back will do the trick, but the most it's lasted for me is about 100 miles, then back to not working. I'm wondering if the solder trick would fix it for me, or if the stepper motor is worn out.

Welcome!

Where'd you get the decal from? Every where I've seen want a small fortune for a sticker.

They do get stuck. Pulling my stepper motor out and turning the odo slightly fixed mine. Be very very very (notice trend) careful not to overtighten the through screws on the circuit board. They're attached to hair-like wires that will snap.

Gosh, another VX, think we need to start a registry around here.

I got the sticker from Honda Parts Direct, and you are right, I think it cost me like $32 :/ but I wanted it to be OEM, so I'll pay it!

Here's a few photos of the car
