My spouse took our Leaf S in to the dealer this morning for it's one year checkup: battery is great with nothing to report. There was a software update, that was a recall, though they didn't know what it specifically fixed.

They mounted and balanced our Nokian Hakka R2's for $80 (totally reasonable) and did the safety inspection ($29).

Nissan will be revealing the next generation Leaf next week on October 29th at the Tokyo auto show. Here's the first teaser image:

Here is the IDS Concept car that Nissan showed, and many believe it is the 2nd gen Leaf in disguise (trying to avoid hurting sales of the 2016 model):

It has a 60kWh pack, that is only slightly taller than the current 24/30kWh pack. The tires are large diameter and 175 width.

Here's a new thread for the IDS Concept: http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...tml#post500293

Still holding up?

Hi Neil, How is your Leaf holding up? Have you run off and ordered a Tesla yet? :-) How is the range and capability of the Leaf measuring up to your normal day to day driving needs? How is your access to rapid charging stations in your area? Has it improved any?

Sorry for all the questions. I keep watching deals pop up on used Leaf's that has me considering getting one, but I worry about the range issues. I have been watching a lot of vids on youtube from owners and range always seems to be a concern. I am green with envy of those people who live in places where there is a broad charging station infrastructure. Been watching some vids in the UK and wish we had that kind of charging network here.

Would love to hear a follow up report on your Leaf and your thoughts.

2016 Leaf offers a new 30kWh battery with 8 year/ 100,000 warranty along with the 24kWh, 6/60 "Lizzard battery" from 2015. The Gen2 Leaf, Chevy Bolt, and promise of the Tesla 3 have killed sales of the 2016 leaf. Especially the S24. There are hundreds of these sitting around. The Leaf forum suggests that you can bargain these down to lease, then buy, for a total out of pocket plus tax of half the list price.
