Offically a hypermiler

Exciting to see the milage icon saying I am a hypermiler with my Mercedes w124 1994 E220

this is with studded tires and around 20-25% E85 blend in the tank

Have owned this car for two years and my avarage since comming on here is lower too

Before it was 7,85liter/100km (30 us mpg) and this is over 22,237km (13817 miles) and about 1,5 years

Nice to see improvements

The most interesting part is that you got such mileage figures with a relatively high ethanol content.

In my experience, not really only 20-25% is actually quite low imho

Since I have done extensive blending with E85(in all my gas cars) my experience is that around about 35-45% blend of E85 that fuel consumtion starts to rise slightly

At 50/50 blend fuel consumtion is usually around 15% higher

At 75% E85 and 25% Gas consumtion is around 25% higher



This mercedes seems to only handle around 25-26% E85 until it starts to lose power, there are plans on increasing fuelpressure so I can blend 50/50, time will tell

Currently in Brazil the mandatory ethanol blend is around 25 to 27% depending on the grade of the gasoline. When you mention 20% E85, disconsidering any eventual mandatory ethanol blend there, it would lead to a 17% total ethanol content.

E85 here can have between 70% up to 85% Ethanol, supposedly winter blend is maximum E75 but it is shown to vary a lot....

95 ron octane gas(regular gas) has 5% Ethanol minimum but when tested it can have up to 15%

Testing ethanol content is way more effort that the pleasure I get out of it so K.I.S.S

Ethanol content had varied sometimes according to the results of the sugarcane harvest, yet other options such as corn-based ethanol are quite neglected and some sort of taboo here. When it comes to E96, which has around 4% residual water content, it used to be more easily available nationwide but nowadays it's not so hard to find fuel stations that don't stock it anymore. Not even with the majority of the new vehicles sold here being flexfuel for more than 10 years...

Even with E10, I can notice a difference in fuel consumption in my car. But, I also have very accurate instrumentation. It's only ~3%, but 3% of ~60mpg is noticeable.

Would be nice to get some instrumentation, drive quite long so driving style is pretty much the same unless it snows(slower) or I drive in the city
