We got phone calls last week that there were threats against oil/gas wells in the north east, supposed to be some stuff happening today. Specifically threatened frac crews, and not local threat, either. The joys of working in the gas field...

Yeah, great.

The good news is most people are back to work here, the bad news is the environmental damage is hidden / dispersed and will be haunting us for at least a decade.

I certainly can't prove anything, but I have been VERY sick 2 times after eating gulf shrimp, and I have never been sick after eating shrimp before.
I have not been out on the water in some time, but I keep getting reports that there are still boats out spraying corexit on oil slicks. I certainly wish I could prove either of the above.
Tourism is down by 1/2 in New Orleans, a tourist related shop that my family is involved with was forced to close (was profitable every month pre oil spill, lost money every month after oil spill until it went broke), we are in the BP claims process now.

Here is a pic of my favorite sign that I snapped on the same day that I was packing up above mentioned shop while watching flaming BMW's on CNN. (BTW: I did eat shrimp here and did not get sick).

So Neil, the world didn't end, the fish aren't all dead, the birds are flying, and you can't find any oil blobs because there aren't any. Oil leaked, it was cleaned up, no "Historic disaster".

So why did you dig this up ? To embarrass yourself more or to see a thread you started being discussed ? At least change the title...........

It was Historic in terms of the amount of oil leaked.

Good point Arragonis.

It was also Historic in being rapidly contained and well cleaned up.

Hmm, another reason to always have your towel with you........
