I found this motor sitting around in my wood shop. Its off an old dust collector. I like the frame of it, it will easily bolt to the transmission. Any thoughts?

3450 RPM
220/440 V
10 HP
20 amp/13 amp

10 HP! geeze. Is it a 3 phase motor? I wonder what sort of short power bursts it could handle. My car's motor is 10 HP continuous, and I can drive all over the place, but it's able to do higher HP for short periods.

I have a 10HP 3 phase Baldor. 3450 RPM 208-230/460 27-25/12.5A. It weighs about 109 lbs. Its a big motor with alot of power. Its kinda scary with it on the floor under my bench, spinning near my feet. If it ever blew up, I bet it could take out a leg...

DO you mean controller or motor? I wish I had a giant AC controller, or at least parts to build one.

Paul, where are you find schematics for the AC controller? I just looked through a Microchip doc on using a PIC18F but stopped once I found out the third PWM was software developed!

I am wondering what parts I should get my hands on before my semester ends. I have finals this Friday, Saturday, and Monday and I will be able to raid the supply room and grab anything decent, like caps, fets, resistors, IC's, crystals, wire, etc.
