You can add a line to swap A and B inputs. That would allow the motor to turn the other way, and consider the other direction as positive rpm.

You know the age old question "what came first, the chicken or the egg?" Well, "What came first, the kneel or the Zod?"
The "A and B" inputs are the inputs from the encoder?
So if i physically swapped the A and B encoder inputs as well as two of the motor phases i would get the motor reversal and the controller would be happy with the encoders signals?

I only ask this just in case. Hopefully it will turn the way i need it first go.
That was one of the things i liked about the AC motor compared to the DC. It can easily go either direction and you don't have to worry about being able to adjust the brush angle.
Because some ICE motors turn one way others turn the opposite, i imagine i won't be the only one curious about how easy it will be to reverse the motors direction.
Also you never know when you may actually need those 5 reverse gears.

Oh, and the age old question in your signature. In a Darwinian universe the egg came before the chicken as dinosaurs laid eggs and dinosaurs pre-dated the chickens. But to say that would be a bit pedantic, so i am glad i didn't mention it.

Yes, the a and b inputs on the encoder. "A leads b" in one direction. So if you swap them in the code, b leads a, and the controller thinks the motor is spinning the other way. I'll add the a and b swap as a configuration variable. So, if it goes the wrong way, you enable the configuration thru the serial port, and also swap any 2 of u, v, w (the 3 phases). I could just have it rotate the other way without swapping things, but there would need to be other code changes. They may be easy. I just haven't thought about it yet. FIRST TEST SOON. (Maybe today)

Lol, you are right about the dinosaur egg. Haha. Similarly, I think kneel came before zod. Since single celled orgamisms could probably kneel, and zod was from like 1980.

Hello!

First off, great work!

I stumbled upon this thread because i was looking for an open source AC controller for my 8kW motor.

I found the schematics and all features in wiki except the firmware.

I read most of the posts, but could'nt figure out the whole picture.
So can you summarize the project, in what state this is on?

Finland?! Long live Moomintroll!!!

Those are old crappy schematics. The firmware is basically done, and I'm about to test it maybe today, and maybe tomorrow. I need to upload the new schematics somehow. I don't really understand the wiki.

The setup is taking some time. Maybe test tomorrow. Here are some pics:
I think this is wired right. I think the bar across the bottom Is the star connection (the hidden neutral):

Arid-zona? I for one was hoping for a more verbose response, because I'm wondering the same thing. And I'm invested in it working. I'm following the Eureka! moments and weighing of costs for specific components—but we're up to 116 pages here. If I could get the whole thing as a single text document, Mac OSX Summarize Text would do a good job of weeding out the 'me too!'s and winnowing the remainder.

Will this work with polyphase DC? What is polyphase DC? I picture AC sitting on top of a DC bias. Reverse works, right? Is regen in this release.

How many are in the field so far. How are they working? Very important — am I going to have to touch Microsoft Windows™ to interact with it?

Its an ac controller. It should work with PMSM and ACIM. Its almost done. Bam. Hows that for thorough. Wait! Maybe 400amp per phase, 350-400v dc bus. I dont even know what polyphase dc is. My guess is more than 1 phase dc. As long as the poly is 3, I think its safe to say, yes.

There is nothing AC related being used by anybody on earth that came from me.

Good thing to know that it's that near to finish line
I can edit the wiki if you upload the files somewhere. All the wiki needs is to log in and then you can edit.
