Just went to the grocery store to buy tons of stuff. I figured I'd drive the electric car with the old wifey. We filled the trunk and some of the back seat, such as it is. We videotaped it. The car is charging right now. It's nice not having to buy gasoline. We'll post our amazing adventure later. It involves a dangerous wild animal.

Correction: 2 dangerous wild animals
After examining the tape, there were actually 2 dangerous wild animals on our return from the store. It made my blood run cold to see just how precarious our situation really was... Normally, a loud stink-spewing climate-change mobile would alert those demons in animal's clothing... But not this time. Our stealth was just too dang stealthy. Our car is to stealth as Oprah is to *****. The video is almost finished being edited... It's going to be very exciting. Life changing perhaps? Perhaps not, but very scary because of the animals.

cool video, no wild oprahs though
Hey Paul,
I have to ask.(cause I'm nosy like that)
Is there ample room behind and under you charger box/setup for them to breathe? (in/out in/out in/out)
I work with industrial chargers and they need ventilation room. (special area in the E.R.)
I would not want you to buy new chargers every week for something as simple as ventilation.(ask Oprah, she'll know)
Or, God forbid, they catch fire cause they overheated. (It's that whole harem thing, got me hot under the collar. Wink, Wink)

The chargers have about 1.25 inches of space below them, and about 0.75 inches separating them. You are right! I have been thinking about cooling issues. They were getting hotter last week before I gave them a bit more breathing room. Once I even ran a fan in the car to keep them really cool while charging. I think I'll invest in a 12v fan that keeps the air circulating while they charge.
I sort of want them to break so I can invest in a superfast charger that's tons of money that I don't have.

I about fell off my chair when I heard you in the video at about 6:00.
I thought I was the only one that did that! I don't even know what it is, or where it comes from. Do you? I think I got it from my dad.

I got it from my dad too! I'm going to ask him about that. For some reason, it feels like it means that something is going slow.

If you just want to go straight to the animal in the video, cue up to 4:27!
Paul, what I would suggest for the chargers is to hook up a small AC fan (brushless, no sparks!) in your charger box. Just cut a hole in each side of your plywood box, making sure one of them is the same size as the fan. Install the fan in the box with a couple of screws. Plug the fan into the same power strip as the chargers, so that when you plug the car in, the chargers and the fan goes on.
Unless you have TOTALLY sealed batteries, batteries will create hydrogen gas which you will want vented out of there with a fan.
