I need to take some pictures, and cool video like Benji (not the famous dog). I finished the brakes and fixed the emergency brakes. The e-brakes were put on wrong. that was annoying. I started removing all the metal connectors for the electrical system, since most of them are decroded pieces of monkey poo. I couldn't find my wire strippers, so I had to use a box cutter. I cut my dang arm off on accident. I re-attached it, though, so everything is fine now. Actually it reattached itself when I cried out to Stedman, Oprah's patron saint.

I rolled the car down the driveway (hill) to test out the brakes. They work really well! Um, now I can't get the car back up the driveway. I'm a stupid idiot. My extension cord won't reach down there, and I need power tools to do some stuff to the car, like install a Stedman shrine. Actually, I plan on putting every power electronics item inside the car behind where the back seat used to be, and I need to drill a few holes.

I need to take pictures. This is stupid and boring without pictures. I made the board that holds the power electronics. Actually a tree made the board. I just cut it and stuck some stuff on it. put the battery box in the car, but the wouldn't open in the car, so I had to cut "vent strips" on the left and right of the box top. haha! I was wanting to do that anyway! haha. I had a job interview today. It's a 7th grade math position. Finally, an opportunity to use all that math I learned. I think I'll be teaching 7th grade Lebesgue Integration, and 8th grade non-linear ODE's. hehe. Either that or I'll just be telling kids to be quiet a lot.

The precharge resistor circuit is going to be a normally off switch. I'll just depress it for a couple seconds to charge the controller's capacitors through a 40 watt 2.5 ohm resistor. Turning the car on will be done by an on/off switch that I got from our old vacuum cleaner. Turning the key will be sort of worthless. I like clean simplicity. The on/off switch will be in a secret location, so if an hotwiring expert comes to steal it, they won't be able to get away with it. haha! I tested the on/off today. That contactor sounds rather violent, especially the off sequence. It can brake 2000 amps though, so I guess it should sound violent. The stupid PB-6 throttle is still not here. OOH that makes me so mad. I ordered 16 high current lugs. That crap better get here soon. School is starting in a few weeks, and I want the pimp mobile ready. None of the electrical stuff is working. I really only want the blinkers, headlights, and brake lights. Isn't everything else just worthless fancy stuff?

SurvivorMan is on. He's eating roast Boobie, the bird. (in fact he's eating the boobie's breast. haha! It's true.)

I talked to a Pizza Delivery guy today. He drives like 150 miles a day, so my 25 mile EV will be perfect for him. What?

Things to do:

Waterproof the boundaries of the back window, since it leaks, and I got a friggin controller in there now. How do you waterproof a back window, without getting a new black thing. Can you just put weird calking around the edges?

Buy ring terminals that can fit over the stupid batteries' positive big terminals.

Put the batteries in. Cut the 2 gauge cable and strip a bit off the ends and crimp the high current lugs onto the cable.

Put in the throttle. It's going inside with all the other stuff in back.

Drill a hole to the motor to run the cables.

Drive away.

as far as the back window goes I'd have to reccomend that you buy a new window seal. I hate to tell you to spend money, and silicone will seal it fine unfortunatley if your seal is leaking chances are there is rust under the seal which will only get worse . IMHO pullthe seal out cold half it seal any spots that rusted through paint to match car and put a new seal in which should be cheap. Just my opinion .

Dremd, thanks! I didn't know you could just pull it out. It seemed sort of permanent. There's a VW place right down the road. I'll check on monday.

The batteries are in. It was like lifting 1,000,000 Kenyan refugees or one quarter Oprah getting those batteries in there. They are really heavy. Not Oprah heavy, but what is? Move over Pluto, you have been replaced by Oprah. She's the real reason Pluto is no longer considered a planet. It makes me very angry that she would do such a thing. She's a very bad person.

I cut the 2 gauge cables, and stripped the ends, waiting for the stupid lugs. I have to wait for the lugs to be delivered to me since Oprah ate them, and she's been backed up for over 2 weeks. She promised to bring them over just as soon as they become "available" again. There may be some pitting, but they should still be fine. Any recommendations for removing bad smells and stains from lugs? Can the human gastro-intestinal system strip the tinned layer off of copper?

To Do List:
1. Connect each charger to the stupid batteries.
2. Verify that the chargers charge at 14.4-14.7 volts.
3. Fix the electrical system. (I think I need to strip all the crap out and start over with it)
4. Join the Oprah Book Club
5. Read the book that the homeless cult guy wrote that Oprah really likes.
6. Learn how to count to 7.
8. Screwl a piece of wood on each side of the batteries so they don't slide around in the box, since they don't fit well at all in there!
9. Magically get lots of money without working at all, because I don't like working.
10. Make an implementation of Peter Shor's quantum factoring algorithm on my quantum computer in the garage. Then read Oprah's email, as long as it uses RSA encryption. Does email use RSA? I totally got this. I made a chain of 4 ions, and successfully used them to factor 15 into 15*1. Hmm... I'm not sure that counts as factoring it.
11. Do other stuff so that the car is done.

If this piece of crap car didn't have a million problems, I think it would take like 5 seconds to convert a car to electric. Time me...

I'm back! I'm done too! It took 5 seconds exactly. I didn't have my camera though.

I only have 148 messages posted. Other people have like 5000 messages. I think if I just write messages to myself for the rest of the summer, real quick messages, then it'll seem like I write and give lots of really helpful advice.

exactly, new seals are cheap and easy to install.

Rust under the front and rear window seal is fairly common in old acvw's. A couple friends of mine just had to replace the 'package tray' area under the rear window and the passenger side floor pan half in their '68... rusted thru from years of rear window leakage, the car was sitting at an angle were water collected on the passenger side.

You are so right about having to fix all the little stuff, then convert it to an EV. It's two... two... two projects in one! (take off on the old Certs commercial... sorry, couldn't help myself )

If this EVW hit sthe road this summer, it will be some sort of accomplishment record. I've tackled some ambitious projects, but this is a big one that is moving very fast, bravo!
