I tightened the brakes up a bit, and I also found that the left front wheel has some wiggle to it. The right one does too, but it feels like it's damped by something. The left one has no damping to it's wiggle.

2 of the 6 batteries charge to only like 95%. The documentation said that the only way these batteries can be completely charged is if the charging rate is at least 30 amps! That's ridiculous. I don't think that out of balance batteries are going to be a problem, though, because I use separate chargers for each battery, and I don't run them down to anywhere near dead.

I was driving around Albertsons yesterday, being very stealthy and there were several people that we just staring at me. They looked dumbfounded. It was really fun. I like to coast, and then put it back in gear, and gently accelerate again. I think I'm going to have some free "workshops" for how to make a cheap EV. I live in the greener capital of the world, so there should be lots of people interested in it.

If you build it, they will come.

But don't make it free. Charge 'em for pizza sake. (my slur of 'for pete's sake')

Did you try swapping the tires around? (shaking issue)

car 54 is back, and he's badder than ever!

Hello! I didn't try switching tires. The 2 front ones are brand spanking new. Grabbing the wheels at 9 and 3 o'clock and shaking gave about 1 inch of play on the edge of the tires. Grabbing at 12 and 6 gave zero play. That's pimped out. I don't know how to fix it. Plus, I don't have no money. Plus, oprah's fat.

I got hired at the community college for one quarter to teach 2 classes! I teach from 7-7:50 and 10:30-11:20. They're going to give me like $50/hr! hahaha! I'd teach for like 6.50/hr if it meant not getting cussed out by 7th grade brats that you aren't allowed to beat like a red-headed stepchild.

I found one bolt thing that had a rubber thing on it where the wiggle seemed to be coming from. I guess I could tighten it more, but I don't know if it will just squish the rubber thing. Talk about vague!

I'll try to get some pictures of where the wiggle seems to be from. Maybe tomorrow. Maybe? ha! for sure!

That sounds like a tie-rod end. Tightening will not help, have to replace. Unless the nut is coming loose I suppose.

You can just go buy new tie rod ends? I'll find out about that tomorrow. There's a vw place like 1 block from my house. It would be nice to go over 30 mph without shaking apart.

You can just buy new tie rod ends.

On your super beetle there should be just a few places that could have flex.

As far as "rubber things" go for the most part you will have a tie rod end and a Ball joint. How to tell them apart? The ball joint is at the very bottom of the knuckle, and the tie rod is at the side (I think rear)..

The other test to distinguish between the 2 is to shake at 9 and 3 and if you get lots of play it is the ball joint, and if you shake at 12 and 6 for more play it is more likley the ball joint.

Sorry for the ramble . . .

I think what you meant to say is
play at 12 and 6= ball joint
play at 9 and 3= tie rod end

and if you're playing more than that, you need to get back to work.
