Ok, now for some more irony. As it turns out, I ASSume too much. The woefully inadequate part had not failed at all!! In fact, I could probably have put another decade on it! Anyway, I feel safer knowing a more robust part is there to replace it. So now, what part failed?? It was the lousy, good-for-nothing, weak Curtis-Albright gazillion amp SW-200 contactor. No problem, I have a shiny new Kilovac to replace it. So I was about to replace it when I thought to myself: these are rebuildable. Maybe I could take it apart......

That actually IS the origin of computer bug.
In the early days of electro-mechanical computers, they realized a calculation was off. They dug through all the switches and found that there was "a bug in the program".
I imagine it looked just like that.

Original computer 'bug' found by Grace Hopper, US Navy. (Spot the geek, spot the geek, arrrgh, he's on the left...)
Apologies for demanding this thread be flown to Cuba - Ben - can I get a cost for your leccy car DVD to the UK please ? Apologies if this is obvious but I am not at home and limited internet. Although Ironically I am watching your conversion series presentation on YouTube and I can't get to 300mpg. Don't you love some people's ideas about internet security

one of those caught on fire in my bug zapper, almost took the whole garage down. They sure have a talent for this trouble-making.

I MISSED MY ANNIVERSARY!!!!!
5 days ago was the 1 year anniversary of my first test drive. I must admit that I never thought this car would have made it this long. I also thought I would have EV2 on the road and be working on EV3 by now Perhaps I would have been better off it I HAD exploded the motor by now EV's are just too indestructable- ok, well I guess a MOTH is not exactly the most threatening creature that ever lived, but it was enough to humble my work.....
One thing is for sure: not a day goes by that I don't love my car.

It's true!
Everyone once in a while, I don't get to drive my car for a while. (Like this last week, which I spent most of at the hospital....in a good way: new baby)
When I do drive the car again, I REMEMBER JUST HOW COOL IT IS!

This is freaking awesome.
If I were not an unemployed poor broke (insert weathless adjective here) college student living at my godfathers house, I would like to do something like what you have done.
