Some more minor mods: taped up the grooves in my wheeltrims, and increased the upper grille block with some foam strips.

Another high: 94.6mpg today - if I could believe that it would be a "Fabia 3L"!

I'm impressed!

I run a 2001 Octavia estate with no mods and a stash of tools in the boot/trunk and I get 65+imp MPG daily with a best of 84imp MPG.
I have a 35 mile each way commute with hills, traffic jams and motorways.
I run Dunlop SP2000 tyres as original fitment on 32psi front and 35psi rear.
I am missing the two front covers from the roof bars and one headlight washer.

I have a new target! Thank you.

That's not too shabby either

That's 54 and 69.9 mpg (US)

If you want to use an online conversion :
Online Conversion - Fuel Consumption Conversion

Those would be regarded as flat tyres by most folks on here

How about cranking up the pressure ?
Have a look on the sidewall what the tyres will stand, and gradually increase the pressure.

The ride will get harder, but your fuel consumption will drop.
When the ride gets bouncy, you've gone too far.
On my V50 I won't increase the pressure beyond what the tyres are rated for - 51 psi - as the rear end gets a bit too bouncy beyond that.

If you don't really need it, remove the roof bars entirely.

That's very good. I need to check the air on my tires... Any recommendations regarding the differences between a gasoline car and the TDIs?

I did try with higher pressures but I found it was wearing the centre of the tread really quickly on my last set of tyres and reducing breaking grip in emergencies. I have reduced the pressured more for maintaining the tyre tread and safety.

I have thought about removing the roof bars but I do use a ladder rack fairly frequently and it would be such a pain to get into the roof lining to refit it.

Also I like proving a point to other drivers at work that I can do it with only a change in behaviour and adding only 5 minutes to a 40 minute commute.
There's a chap at work who has a Honda Civic hybrid and only gets 50imp mpg on a 45 mile commute.

Latest tank shows largest error yet on the TDI on-board computer. 83.1mpg on the computer, 72.3mpg on fillup. 13% optimistic! I'm sure it was about 8% out in the past.

That's an interesting error.

I don't get to check my computer to my tank as I aim for best mpg on my commutes but I also sometimes tow a trailer, like today. I had a ton in the trailer, so 1400kg towed, and got 27mpg over 5 miles. That hurts the tank average.

My tank average is currently 59.6imp mpg, at last fill up.
