Half size radiator!!! 1000 cc's of blazing horsepower doesn't need much cooling. The radiator is on the driver's side. The big hole in the picture is where there was a sheet metal plate OR where the AC condenser was fitted if the car had AC.

Yes, he did a fine job!

Nice work. Looks really clean.

It's a little weird, looking into the engine bay of a Metro and thinking to yourself, "huh, it's kinda roomy in there."

The underside of your little car cries out for a bellypan. You have precious few ponies to burn on bad aero!

In the market for a fifth gear set.

Okay guys, here's an update on the 5th gear issue. There isn't one.

It's not that there isn't an issue, no sir, it is precisely that there isn't a fifth gear. The teeth are GONE. Check out these pics:

Here's the black top hat, with the battery tray pulled out. The top hat is held on by five-or-seven 10mm bolts and exactly two 12mm bolts.

I pulled it and immediately saw the issue:

NO TEETH left. This W.I.P. needs a dentist!

The top hat was full of this pastey-goo. At first I thought, "Oh, hey, dinosaur chunks". But no... no, no.

Hey, why isn't there a magnet in this hat from the factory?

So I am officially in the market for a 5th gear set. Please, if you have one, know of a guy, or think you could swipe one from a car in a parkingg lot ... let's get in touch!

Thanks to Cash for Clunkers there are very few Geo Metros in the wrecking yards.

Hey.....wait a minute.....that massive diesel torque probably ripped the teeth off the tranny as soon as you hit the key.

Cash for Clunkers was somewhat pointless, as even some relatively efficient vehicles were scrapped too.

I wouldn't quote the torque of that Kubota as massive, but anyway, everytime I drive a manual car I keep the clutch depressed while starting.

Like Kimer, I hold Cash for Clunkers in low regard. Lots of usable cars were damaged for the sake of enslaving Americans with additional debt associated with a new car.

I've never really met an intelligent person who thought cash for clunkers was a good thing. I've met a few stupid people who attempted to explain to me how their toxic-battery-laden Prius or gas-guzzling Dodge Ram were sound purchases for the environment...
