You don't usually mold canopies because the plastic optically exaggerates any defect a mold has. I believe the term is called free form and uses plates to restrict only the attachment edges. Everthing else is done with gravity and heat, sometimes air pressure aka blowmolding.

True. A circular plate can give optical quality. A male or female slump form would have to be near-perfect or it will show any imperfection as the wheel rotates.

I'd go with aluminum, else paint a spiral on it.
