I agree that it has been seeping out and into every thread. Probably the problem can't be better or more succinctly said. I wanna say to whoever has been arguing with whomever, I have strong opinions too. I respect that you do. I kinda don't wanna know just because I don't want it to seep into our interactions on the fun and most forum-relevant stuff. And it does.
I do remember a great member of this forum who quit loudly and publicly over something, and I always suspected in might be the politics from how he wrote it. I don't really know, so... I won't share even his avatar name. He insisted that his avatar name even be erased. I think that means he uses it elsewhere. I still miss that dude's presence. He was an very experienced, older mechanic, a serious builder in my humble estimation, and a bit cantankerous .... his contributions here were great, frequent, and voluminous.

Factory EVs usually don't have the same appeal for ecomods, as people already see them as a somewhat "easy" approach to the so-called "sustainability" and don't look toward a car in a more enthusiastic way. When it comes to hybrids, it wouldn't surprise me if every new car in the next 10 years feature some sort of hybrid system, even if is as basic as a BAS-Hybrid.

I have not been around for a while, but I applaud the effort at reducing the political traffic. There are countless other social media outlets for that. Twitter, FB, etc.
My truck website has done the same, and we gather around and talk shop, no really, we just talk shop.
It's a nice refuge from the 24 hour news cycle and responses to that.

Can't help those who click a global warming thread and expect zero political opinion to be found within, and further can't control their emotional response to those things they read.
Now I agree that unnecessary political chatter in a thread not political in nature is in poor taste.
How would we discuss a topic like CAFE standards, which is germane to this forum, while entirely avoiding politics?

I avoid those like the plague on humankind that they are. I also have opinions that it would take a subpoena to pry loose.
