Cleaned and re-oiled the cone filter...still seeing consistent gains even in cooler weather.

On a recent run of 30-35 miles...I managed 36 out and almost 42 on the way back after car was warmed up....65-68 ambient. This is on routes with quite a few turns and stops.

Remember...you can drag an ecomodder to the well of mpgs...but you can't make them drink. Poor little things would rather dehydrate?

Did you remember to repolarize your fuel magnets? And remember that the ram implosion wing must point exactly at the front of the vehicle, so you might need to realign it, too. Make sure that your HHO generator is at peak efficiency - might need to clean it with liquid form dihydrogen monoxide.

No, really. We really do want to believe the OP.

But he makes it next to impossible, by putting in wildly inaccurate numbers and claims. The OP's attitude does not help, either. The effect is that the OP might as well be trying to push fuel magnets.

On the technical side....

Still maintaining around 37-38 mpg according to the SG...which is backed up by tank to tank refill mpg....better than a 2 mpg gain from last summer's avg mpg.

Why do I think this works?

* reduction in intake restriction?

* the fact that the ID of the filter tube (being thick rubber) is LESS than the ID the the thinner plastic tube of the AFM...causing a slight venturi effect...or reduced air pressure right where the AFM sensors are? Possibly somewhat similar in effect to using a carb spacer?

* doubtful if there are any significant air intake temp differences from my previous setup....where I had the intake snorkel removed and also the resonator resulting in some reduced intake restriction. Paper filter was only 1 yr old.

Article measuring the intake restrictions on a car....

see here

Under the auspices of NOT "putting the cart before the horse"...I've tested this and found that it works to improve mpg on this particular car (the horse). The explanations as to WHY it works are secondary...or ARE the cart. I will ride the horse...you can ride in the cart.

.......

This actually turns out to be a very cost and labor effective mod for the mpg gain. But you must BELIEVE!

$26...bit of duct tape...a clamp and 5 mins gets you started.....need to check OD of intake tube and fitment of the filter. Remove top of airbox and old filter...install new filter. My filter has a 3.5" OD...same as intake tube...ID of filter tube is LESS than intake tube.

Have since reduced the amount of foam used under the filter...it now only supports just the end of the filter. Also cleaned and re-oiled the filter.

note: will NOT respond to further posts...this FINAL post is for anyone with the sense to try this...not for keyboard jockeys.

I put a short ram intake on mine specifically to bring in warmer under hood air. The factory intake is probably more restrictive, but it also brings in cold(er) air from the front bumper area. The way the intake fits, its fairly close to the exhaust manifold. So to me its a easy WAI. something like this pic. The exhaust is in the back of the motor...
