I guess I don't understand why you'd want to mess with AV equipment and electrical stuff when you could spend $5 and have wide angle interior mirrors on both sides.

Maybe you like that kind of thing... I'm very much a hardware kind of guy!

Oh ok I see what you mean.

For now I ordered 1 camera which I will try as a side view mirror replacement and if it doesn't work out I will just use it as a backup camera because visibility out of the back of my tail leaves some blind spots.

I haven't even tried to use wide angle interior mirrors because I didn't think they provided that good of visibility, but I have no experience with them. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot now.

Plus, I think having a camera is pretty cool

The visibility is fine if you have an interior rearview mirror on the windshield; the wide-angle mirrors function just like exterior mirrors in that case, taking over between the interior mirror and your peripheral vision. I can't remember if you have a backlight on your tail now, and I'm too lazy to go back through the thread.

Installed the camera and monitor in my spare time over the past few days, so hopefully tomorrow I can get the wiring done and try it out.

Any good ideas on how to do that? I tried making a cover out of coroplast, but it didn't turn out very good. I may just have to use it in the mean time though.
